Twilight Sparkle is cut off from her plans to meet her family in Canterlot for Hearth's Warming! Without any means to get to her family, she turns inward, doing what she can to bring her family traditions to her friends in Ponyville and discover the meaning and significance of the season.

Author's Note: This story was an entry on deviantArt for a writing contest held by the inestimable caashley and to certainly my surprise, this was declared the winner out of 20 other very excellent pieces.

wow-e nice story loved it from start to finish:derpytongue2::heart:

Christmas Nights In Blue - Trans-Siberian Orchestra

Spike had been just as much a part of the family ever since Twilight hatched him.

Spike,

I’m off on a Sparkle family tradition. Help yourself to the bread and the turquoise I got for you... Happy Hearth’s Warming.

Twilight

That's... That's awful. :fluttercry:

Amusing.

If I had any idea how gif's work, right now you'd be getting a "drowning in feels" one from me.

A most hefty bravo to you good sir, I loved how this one played out! Really like how you built up the theme of "perfection in imperfection" and was able to deliver it so well. It's a message that's prominent to many of us. I try not to look so much at what could be better in my own life, but appreciate the little perfections dotted about to hold it all together. While the story was able to create its own happy ending through what limited "family" Twilight had in Ponyville, thus leaving the reader feeling warm and content seeing the library gathering come together so spontaneously, you just had to fling a coat of sprinkles on top by bringing in Shining Armor.

Kind of makes me think if he opted to spend Hearth's Warming with Twilight, and spent the whole day traveling. It's a really awesome gesture, and works to compound the already satisfying reward delivered.

It's short, it's punctual, it wastes no time lathering d'awws in your face. Awesome job overall.

Now you give that Luna plush a nuzzle for me, ya'hear.

It's true where ever you'll find love it feels like Christmas!

Sorry, but this story reminded me of that line.

Applejack's family makes me nostalgic. This is my favorite Hearth's Warming fic.

Goddamn this really deserves more love. Fantastic story!
