The main character is a gamer in space marine armor, he isn't an actual space marine. So he doesn't have the real experience as the traitor legions did with chaos. You'll how it affects him in later chapters. Insanity doesn't happen out of thin air

I agree with what you said, but the story moved too fast!
Maybe a few hours in the woods experimenting with your strength and equipment?
Besides the stampede of ponies as soon as you see it, it doesn't matter what race you are, a chaos marine is terrifying wherever you look at it.
I like this story and it has a lot of promise but Axel is way to calm for someone far from home,turned into a super soldier, said super soldier is apart of faction serves a dangerous and malicious dark god of Chaos and worse the armor isn't just for show because slannesh is real.
Which means tzeench,nurgle,and Khorne are also real along with everything else in the wh40k but Axel actually seemed more horrified by the penance coffin than the aftermath of talking to a chaos god that told him to his face that she'd try to corrupt him into serving her.
That being said I hope Axel warns the main 6 of the ruinous powers now that slannesh has revealed herself. I also hope to see leon and Axel reunited soon
