Pleasant dreams, but please don't sleep too long...

T

A collection of poems for, by and about colorful ponies.

Maud's Poem takes inspiration and a line or two from So Great and Powerful and Tsyolin's song Indelible Ink.
Celestia uses edited lines inspired by the Destroyer songs Notorious Lightning and The Music Lovers.
Poem for Luna contains profanity.
This endeavour and the poems here-in were largely inspired by Regidar's fic All Teeth.

Feedback is appreciated, as brutal as it needs to be.

oh wow. love love love poetry. not enough of it on here! i really like this one. weirdly enough i dont think i've read anything with a focus on the fact that all of the ponies (and dragon) most important to shining armor are going to outlive him. how heartbreaking for twi and cadance and flurry. and shining himself, too, because his family (well except his parents i guess but you expect to outlive them anyways) is going to get to spend the rest of eternity together while he is but a flicker in the early timeline of their lives.

sad stuff, but isn't it amazing for your legacy to be carried on by some of the most powerful beings in existence? this poem conveys it so well.

Thank you! :] It's reassuring to know that people are getting what I'm trying to say, ha ha.

I think about Shining Armor a fair amount (he's in a constant vie for Best Pony alongside Maud and Big Mac), so when I got around to seeing Flurry introduced it really made me think about that situation, the people closest to you all guaranteed to live beyond you. If it were me, I don't think I could take it. There's a large selfish part of me I try my hardest to keep in check, but I feel like it would break there. Shining Armor is better than me - he could make peace with it. Of anyone to live forever, why wouldn't you want it to be those you love most?

This is a fantastic start. Poetry compilations always benefit from having a strong start—you have to hook people in. This sounds very much like a poem Maud would write, up and down. Expression through geology. Absolutely solid! (like a rock...)
