The Real Darkness

"You're wrong, I have the power of peace if I can unite all under one banner. When we all have the same goal, paradise, the world will be at rest."

Sequels1

T

This story is a sequel to The Pointed Woodsmaster

Kanna, a Litzrer Captain, was slain at the hand of Arctus who now sits in recovery after refusing to slam the knocker at death's door. Sunset Shimmer has fled to a different world with a promise to battle Arctus in a sinister manner.

The entire time, the Master Scout intends to nurture his relationship with Celestia while protecting the nation from any large shapes coming from the shadows in Equestria.

I chose to separate these stories as each is a different conflict in this large running series. Each story tells a large tale with small little plots intertwining between them.

Contains alcohol use and talk of, but not detailed description, sex. Mentioned offhandedly. Tags added.

It is heavily recommended to read The Pointed Woodsmaster prior to this.

Comes before Launching the Last Star

Nice start. Should just get crazier and more action packed from here. :moustache:

Equestrian Special Forces, Equestrian Ranger Corps, or Equestrian Scout Legion? Lots of potential names for the upcoming badassery.

And now, MC’s looking forward to NMM’s return besides Celestia! Poor Luna got spanked last two times she saw Arctus.

Celestia is really smitten. Atta girl! :raritywink:

Never suspected the tailor would be interested in joining Equestria’s new scouts. Arctus seems to have no shortage of candidates with potential; I don’t think I would have expected that from peaceful pony country.

With Strong Stitch, there's a bit more to be revealed.

Well done, Silver Spike. Looking forward to your decision.

Hope Twilight doesn’t soil herself when meeting the scary Master Scout.

The dragon’s egg Spike was in, that’s different from the frozen bird egg, right?

If the Storm King enacts his invasion from the movie and turns Celestia to stone, Arctus is going to freak out like John Wick crossed with Conan the Barbarian type of freak out. Glorious.

I’m more curious about Strong Stitch than ever! Very few ponies could have seen that fight and thought, “it’s worth a try.”

Congratulations, Scout Silver! I wonder what his weapon will be.

Correct, I haven't mentioned it beyond its first development stage showing, it's still in Arctus' quarters, undisturbed and very frosty.

This dragon campaign will be amah-zaing!!

The next big quest begins!

So far I'm liking this continuation of the story just as much as its prequel.

The griffons fear them? They’re some of the bravest creatures on Equus. That’s not a good sign.

Very interesting. He didn’t interrogate the priest but gave Hadden information. To lure him into a false sense of security? And one is still unknown.

Loosing his spear into the mountain… will that awaken it?

I didn't explain his thinking completely there, apologies. He drove the head of it into the ground so it was touching most things an illusion would be cast on to hide undead.

And using the gift bestowed upon it by Aeternia's central and Sacred Volcano, dispersed magic in a large radius, removing the illusion cast to make a cave look and feel just like the mountain face.

Again, apologies.

That’s cool… and more responsible than causing an eruption.

That’s his third godhood spell: stone walking? Nice.

Now I’m quite curious about what brought the humans to Equus if a regular civilian was also taken. That makes it seem indiscriminate.

The violent waves and some rocky alcoves already filled with seaweed gave him a second method, not as stealthy, but enough to hide it so he could get back home once he was done.

I don’t know if the tides work the same there as here, but seaweed typically doesn’t grow above the high tide mark. Without a mooring, that canoe may not be there when he gets back. Unless he set it on some rocks above the high tide line and then covered it?

I know the whole seaweed thing here is a bit weird.

I used it as a nod to Season 6 Episode 5 when Rarity and Twilight use seaweed as a disguise, so I felt as though they didn't really have to swim too deep to get it especially since they came out of the rocks that Arctus set his transportation upon.

I don’t know what that oath signifies, but I hope it’s a good one for Equestria.

I hope Smolder and Ember will be okay.

Seems like MC is going to get it done!

Not much longer now.

I really like your writing method for this story. It’s packed with action -even the peaceful ones- and the action scenes aren’t bogged down with superfluous details that artificially lengthen -and thereby slow everything down. The pace is steady and intentional, and it keeps my attention throughout.

👍 👍

I hope Stitch is okay. If she gets back, I imagine it’s nearly her time to prepare for her scout test? Will the pony scouts be able to learn the godhoods if Luna helps with the stars?

Sweet Sunbutt, your comments are really propelling me to write. Thanks for always leaving your words, it's very much appreciated.

Celestia looked to him with widened eyes.

This last little exchange made me think of Home Alone when the parents just woke up. lol :rainbowlaugh:

He survived and got the girl: a happy ending for the hero!!

The brief mention of Cadence made me wonder what the Scouts would do with the Changelings: a species which specializes in clandestine operations.

And the big event with Luna is around the corner!!
