No you didn't go too far with Celestia hitting Spike with the wooden fan. He's a dragon, he can handle it, plus he probably scared the crap out of her when she noticed he was missing and she didn't think about him going to look for treasure right away. She's his mom, it's only right that she would be mad that he didn't tell her where he was going.

Yeah, I mean, every mom has the right to be varying levels of strict with their kids, even if it means it being funny in some ways. The relationship that Spike and Celestia has as wholesome as it is funny at times with how many unique personality traits both of them have.
