It does makes some sense. Because, remember that the Mane Six's own siblings are very much different, with their color and different hair style.
( Ex: Twilight / Shining Armor. Fluttershy / Zephyr Breeze. Applejack / Apple Bloom / Big Mac. Rarity / Sweetie Belle. Pinkie Pie / Maud Pie / Marble Pie / Limestone Pie. Sheesh, this is probably the most mess up and tragically dark origins I have ever seen in a Israel Yabuki inspired love story!!?? This feels it was rip straight out a over cliche and edgy action movie script. ( Like Tom Clancy's No Remorse with Michael B. Jordan. )
And then there is the new setting of Caribouria!? If this is what I think it is. I AIN'T amused.
( Because having the Caribou themselves in Israel Yabuki's own world is a definite bad thing! )

To put it simply, to ensure that what happened (Dainn nearly started an uprising and nearly raped Luna), Lord Dainn's father had placed a barrier around Caribouria to make sure no creature would enter, but any one being with a dark heart that would attack the kingdom, would never leave to ensure that they stay trapped.
Dainn's father made a mistake to make sure that every creature was forbidden to enter the kingdom.
