Star Swirl's the bearded Tartarus you fear to go there Celestia the ponies explored too greedy and Too Deep you know what they woke in the Darkness of Tartarus shadow of flame. Looks like chrysalis really wants seduce Jason I guess to be his empress I guess you could say it's working a little he didn't take his eyes off her
Fantastic Chapter! Can't wait for the next one to come out! Hope it's soon.
Very cool chapter, I'm quite curious where this will lead.
Rarity got her much-needed wakup-call, plenty of mysteries afoot in Tartarus...
As for Jason - I really loved his interaction with Chrysalis (though I am really curious what her real goals are, and how she really feels towards him).
And of course Jason dying from cancer - probably sooner rather than later - may be another one-two punch for the bearers - both because they might have no time to reconcile with him, and because it might have even been caught and treated in time if they only had befriended him instead of torturing him.
Oh, snap. Demons are on the move. Rarity getting bitch slapped, and Jason got cancer?! Things are getting crazy. I don't know how I feel about Chrysalis here. She could be plotting something.
I'm worried about Chrysalis' intent here. Not to mention Jason doesn't have the only gun now. It was mentioned that Chrysalis is extremely stubborn and I'm worried she will try to kill Jason at some point. Unless stated otherwise by the author, has she accepted Jason as the new ruler of the Changelings? Or is she long conning everyone to try and take back power?

watch it comes around that they find Jason and find out about his cancer, and Celestia tries to cure him of it, but Jason refuses and chooses to die just to spite the ponies one last time.
Hmm.. I'm going out on a far reaching limb here and firing blindly into the night:
Jason's developed faster because of Equestria's latent magic, and that's why humans eventually went extinct in this dimension.
If I'm wrong, then I'm wrong. Can't wait to see where this goes!
My only complaint was that Greg pulled back to soon after slapping Rarity with the Clue-By-Four. Not that I wanted him to continue or do worse, but it kinda undermines his point when he immediately apologises for calling a dog a dog...
You did amazingly in this chapter, not to worry. *hug* I can hardly wait to see what happens next.
OH BABY! YES! Invented, perfected and popularized by the Prussian Army, Bolt Action Rifles were the Go-to weapon for most modernized infantry units from the Crimean War till the second world war and are still the gold standard for sniping. Here's to Jason displaying superior marksmanship, perhaps in defense of Gregory:
"I can shoot the antennae off of an ant at 500 yards. Go ahead, make my day."
And Jason has cancer?!
Here's to perhaps some redemption for Twilight and Celestia and maybe anyone else skilled in magic and/or medicine. Assuming cancer may be defeated by magical means, perhaps the Mane 6 regaining their ability to use the elements of harmonious by using their powers to heal Jason?
As for Rarity, she needed that slap. Thanks Greg, been wanting to do that for a while.

Perhaps he'd have done that previously, but he seems a bit different now. He seems a bit more subdued now, likely due to the cancer. The capability of violence is certainly there but its more...restrained. The red hot rage seems to have cooled and hardened into a sharper, more calculating ice cold fury, which is actually more dangerous. Think Eren Yeager before and after the timeskip.
Perhaps them curing him will be his way to, perhaps not forgive them entirely, but at least make peace with them.
Oh my gosh, it just occurred to me. We saw before that General Nictis's wings were starting to glimmer, ala Thorax in the show shortly before he and the rest of the changeling’s ascended into a new base form. Could this, the Changelings future ascendence and gaining the ability to produce their own love and to share it be the key to Jason becoming cured? The love he never received, some kind of arcane changeling magic that can remove cancer?
Jason may not be a changeling and though he doesn't realize it yet, he's altered Changeling society for the better. He's their second founder, the Marcus Furius Camillus to their Rome.
"You did so much for us as our Emperor. The establishment of a new social order based on merit rather than birth, the elevation of our nation, the uplifting of Changelings everywhere, military reforms that have made us a force to be reckoned with and allowed us to wage a successful campaign against our enemies, technological advancement and so much more. We have relied on you, so you can rely on us."
🤴
As if Jason's life wasn't already filled with pain & sorrow. The guy just can't catch a break. I feel so bad for him tbh. Hopefully he can salvage what time he has left to save Gregory from a fate far worse!
On the bright side, knew Chrysalis was starting to feel a little something towards Jason if her flaunting her "human" form she apparently had been working on in front of him was any indication. I think we'll be seeing some actual tension between the two in the future if it even gets to a point.
Or she could be playing the con game. I'm banking on her actually feeling something other than a benefit to herself & maybe her reaction to his fatal illness could be the breaking point for her emotionally. She found an equal & doesn't have much time with him.
Just my theory.
10/10 update!
11528658
i dont think so. his viewpoint seems be somethign along " Looking for an hook in a gift" and "leave me and mine alone"
so he was content with not trusting ponies to do anything good and leave them be as long as they did nothing stupid with anyone beside ponies
l freaking loved it.... it was about time she got some sense literally slapped into her.
I recognize that Gregory has different values and strategies regarding the various inconceivable circumstances continually inflicted on him.
I am still confused why he barely spared a moment of dialogue with his would-be banisher. He asked a few very important questions and then just stopped.
They're on a time limit for food and water, yes, but he should still be grilling Serenity for answers any moment not spent inhaling.
He had the entire flight to speak with her and a dragon companion to insist she respond.
Instead, he spent time philosophizing with Rarity and stumbling into that long-overdue wakeup of hers.
Been needing that to happen for a while, but right now, of all times? Instead of learning more about the pony that wants him out of the picture and remains within finishing-the-job distance?
We know she isn't about to try anything more (at least for now) because we've followed some of her story and thoughts, but why is Gregory behaving like he knows?
Let's gooo
He needs to grill Serenity more in the next chapter for sure. Other than that, loved the chapter. This is the second fic to give Jason cancer so I have hopes that the end will result in the ponies curing him.
Although my guess is that he'll die saving Gregory or soon after. I hope you don't kill Jason off at the end. He's earned a happy ending, despite everything.
Really excited for the next chapter regardless!
11528966
Wait, second fic? What other one gave Jason cancer? I feel like I've read all the other Ending-verse fics and I don't remember them giving Jason cancer. Do you remember the name? I'd like to read it if it's one I've missed
11528971
It might have been deleted since I can't seem to find it anymore, but it was the one with the wheelchair as the story coverart. It changed authors like, 3 times cause they kept writing it, giving up, and then another one would take over. Made it kinda jarring to read, honestly.
11528980
In all honesty, it was a reference to that fic.
11529040
I kinda figured as much 😁
Poor Jason just has the absolute worst luck of all time.
11529092
11529040
Think I got it It never really ends. Funny enough I do remember reading this one but it was a while ago, so I probably forgot it.
11529112
I kinda want to write a side story where Gregory arrives in that universe instead too haha.
11529117
I'd read it. That'd be a really interesting take because honestly after the three endings had come out and the way all the ponies were treating Jason in this story just made me feel hollow inside. Twilight and everyone else (with the exception of Celestia I think) was just being racist and petty all because Twilight saw some people eat meat on Earth. And if memory serves correctly, there was no Discord tampering in this sequel. If you want to write a story with Gregory being best boy in that version of Equestria I'd totally read it.
11529119
The ending(s) of that story really rub me the wrong way, none of the ponies face punishment or learn anything from it.
11529148
Same, literally all it was, was putting Jason into more bad situations while Twilight spouts off more humanity hate. She doesn't learn anything from it and all I was really hoping for was Jason to go back home somehow
11529112
Ah, yeah. There it is. Honestly, I liked where the original auther was going but I feel like each author after just kinda lost that path and went further and further into nonsense. Didn't help that the second author only wrote like, 3 chapters before giving up.
11528589
If Chrysalis already knows of Jason’s condition (and it’d be kind of hard to hide for long from someone who hangs around close by much of the time, if only so you can keep an eye on them), it may simply be that she figures she can just wait until he dies of natural causes and then reclaim her throne -- and as long as she acts reasonably loyal to him in the meantime and promises to honor his memory, she may even have a decent shot at not even having to fight for it. With the funny part being that that could easily be her plan just about regardless of how honest she was being all along, since it’s a pretty safe play in any event.
When it comes to the rarity and Gregory scenes the only (admittedly slight) issue I have is that he went from snapping her back to her senses to apologizing and swearing he'll never do it again a bit too quickly. If his emotions got the jump on him enough to slap her and grab her hair I think he woylsve needed a vit more time to calm down and apologize. I personally would've put his apology during night time because i think them apologizing to each other would've worked well in his favor and his speech about how they can all learn from past mistakes.
That said, I think it's all great anyway and I wouldn't have been able to wrote a chapter like this so maybe this approach to the apology was perfectly fine.
I just hope Jason doesn't die. Not because of any main character bias, but because I think it would be nice if he did get to have a happy ending with Chrysalis. He's not bad enough to need to die in order to redeem some of the things he did and I think if he was to get a good ending this would be a story where it could work. What Discord did messed up harmony and Jason suffered for it. That is why I think in order to bring harmony back it would be good if he did get to experience the happiness he was chasing after when he arrived.
11528750
Perhaps the flight was at such a speed that a conversation wouosne be possible. Plus, I think his goal is go lay as low as he reasonably can so shooting about all of this while flying probably would've gone against his goals.
I also think this approach is fine. Survival and escape first. Reasoning later.
I hope we get an Update on what’s happening back in Griffinstone, I have a feeling his banishment hasn’t gone unnoticed. Celestia might be in a lot of trouble along with the remaining elements.
11529334
Celestia sensed and identified the magic as the spell to send people to Tartarus and caught the ponies with the Hades Tears necklaces, that's all she needed to witness, and I doubt Celestia will keep quiet about it, trying to hide what happened to the Chancellor will only make things worse for Equestria than it already is.
There is no escape
Good old bitch slap back to reality, you love to see it.
Holy shit holy shit holy shit!
11529599
I feel you man.
11531768
Hah! Someone finally got that reference! Yeah, I couldn't help it.
I feel like star swirl might have banished the human settlement to tartarus and in there they started to evolve and adapt into the "demons" that dwell in its deepest caverns
Gregory's right, Rarity. You and your friends are no longer children believing that life is under your control, nor should it be treated like some game. The sooner you come to terms with that, the better you will be.
11534518
FFS, I really don't like those kinds of people. The sole concept of 'being a hero' is futile, IMHO. No matter how much you fight - your time will pass and everything will go back like it was or become even worse.
The problem in this case started with Greggy here being a 'chosen one'. If everybody needs a 'hero', but doesn't do anything themselves - are they deserve to have that 'hero'?
No idea - why I'm writing this tirade right now. Sorry for that one, chief.
11390604
Unlikely. When they all confessed to what they'd done to Jason, Gregory, in shock, mumbled that it could have been him and has repeatedly told them they need to apologize to Jason.
Wait. I just read through this entire story, and I'm only just now realizing you're also the one writing A Cloaked Heart! No wonder I'm enjoying reading this, you've certainly got a knack for writing awesome stories.
11535919
Heh, you're the second person to realize this lol. Glad you're enjoying it. I'm currently writing the next chapter to this as we speak. Hopefully in the next day or so it'll be out, but we'll see.
Leave this ungrateful bitch behind, she's so jarring
Just because of their skin color. Something so innocuous and something uncontrollable was the only reason that they became chattel slaves
It was done because it was economically expedient, not simply due to their skin color.
