I know you're not going to but I'd love it if you just dropped the whole story. This has been a fun ride and I want to see it through to the end.
oh god, why all the big sad!?
My heart goes out to all three of them.

You'd love it if he just DROPPED the whole story, but you want to SEE IT THROUGH to the end?
Do you realize what you have just typed?
Princess Cadance incoming in to help fix their predicament!

I assume he meant he’d love it if crimson posted the rest of the story all at once so he can read the rest of it.

That makes more sense.
Okay, so just to clerify; Anon's main gripe is that his current relationship with both Luna and Celestia can no longer be sustained on trust. This is the result of both Diarchs forming relationships under false identities with Anon after they managed to convince him to try at romantic ventures outside the royal herd. Which, of course, seems a world of betrayal to Anon. After all, without being able to see inside of either co-rulers heads Anon can only work off assumption. One such assumption being that neither Luna nor Celestia wished to suffer his presence any longer than necessary, and, in lieu of this, decided to manipulate him under these false identities as a method of pushing Anon into trying to go on dates outside his existing herd with Luna and Celestia. Which, as an assumption, wouldn't be far off the mark. In essence, both Alicorns went out of their way to lie to Anon. This lie only multiplied as time went on. The gifts Anon gave these mares? Wasted. The time he gave them? Wasted. The love he provided them? Wasted. Because none of it was returned with the same intent as he had.
And, in this moment of weakness, what does Luna do? She lies. Again. Seriously, how else are we supposed to take the above quoted contradiction? She clearly states that her alternate identity has legit differences in how it functions to her original Alicorn form, yet immediately back tracks on it just so that she can try and appeal to Anon more. I know that we, being the reader's, do indeed know that Luna and Celestia genuinely love Anon, but from the perspective of Anon these lines should be fairly damning. Luna contradicts herself hard, having the core of her argument made null here. Hell, I wouldn't blame Anon for being unable to trust either of these Alicorns at all anymore. Raven insists to Anon that Celestia is suffering from terrible guilt, but how would he be able to know whether or not the actual millennia old Alicorn goddess was simply using one of her many 'masks' to save face, whether it be for social or political reasons?
This situation just seems unfixable. While I do hope that the relationship between Anon and these Mares can be mended somewhat, I would also hope to see some serious paranoia from Anon going forward. I mean, "A species with whom my only actual major romantic relationship is undercut by the loves of my life turning out to be the unwilling wives I thought hated me taking upon false identities to influence and manipulate me in my decisions?" Dude, I'd be listening to Rockwell's Somebody's Watching Me like it's the national anthem.
I don't see how anyone could ever forgive them for what they did. There original plan, if I remember correctly, was to keep pretending to be their counter-parts, we can all see the flaws in that one and they pointed it out themselves, but accidently started having feelings for him leading them to start wanting a proper, true, relationship. (please correct me if this is off at all)
Then we have Ravens' argument that boils down to just "they deserve it" after all they've been through. WOW. Pick the man that is least likely to tell others about the sisters forbidden relationship, and hope he doesn't mind living alone or keeping his relationship a secret from the nation. This all translates to the fact that they didn't care for Anon but yes, I'm aware that Celestia (I believe) said that he could so this secret dating stuff but does that count as caring?
But whatever, who cares? This is a great story that I'll look forward to seeing update in the future. Although, now that I think about it, I wouldn't mind a story similar to this but where he doesn't forgive them. An idea for when this finishes perhaps?
JAVELIN YOU FUCKIN TRAITOOOOOR
man my poor boy broken so bad ....
hope he can find his way back from this .

I think you and everyone else who thumbs downed him took what he said completely out of context of what he meant. What part of "This has been a fun ride and I want to see it through to the end." did you all not understand?
I love that his feelings weren't invalidated. It's so common in romcoms for the solution to just be one party being told "stop feeling hurt, they love you so it justifies the horrible things they've done". This is so much better. Mad respect.
11055268
Please be careful of what you say just to avoid getting so much unnecessary negativity. Gah, misunderstandings!
11055288
Hopefully with setting the place, mood,etc... and not with magical ways; that might get seen as manipulation...

The way he phrased it made it sound like he wanted the author to drop(quit) the story. He definitely could have articulated his point better. It sounded very paradoxical upon first reading.
To think all of this could have been avoided if Celestia and Luna quietly 'did away' with the Nobles harassing them, then released a statement stating something like 'we're immortal, we can't take mortal lovers because we're sick of dealing with the hurt and grief every time they die.' As for Anon... I'd have just straight up left Equestria had I been him.
11055406
I can understandably see how what ponyrsrch said could be taken both ways. But that's why using context clues and getting a read of the general tone of the message is important. If the rest of what was said sounded negative and was like "I don't like this story and it's gone on too long", the interpretation of "drop the story" would mean "stop posting it".
However, they clearly expressed enjoying the story in the second sentence, so logically speaking "drop the story" must mean "post the rest of the story". Not unlike when people say that an album has dropped.
I know I'm only replying to this comment but this is something that's good for anyone to keep in mind, myself included obviously.
Man its really sad Iwent through something similar to this but it broke me so bad I almost killed myself God I hope you can post the net few chapters soon as possible
11055282
Oi! NEVER tell an Author to "drop" a story; to 'drop' something in this context means you want him/her to quit and stop writing it! You want him/her to post the whole story, not drop it!
I am enjoying the story but the "liar revealed" trope is starting to get a little to cliche.
Dropped as in released, people. Why would anyone tell an author to cease work on a project if they also stated they enjoyed it and wanted to see it in its totality? Dropped is common enough phraseology with respect to online episodic content release, "[content creator] just dropped the latest teaser trailer for [IP] and it's [meaningless hype and hyperbole]!". The author is following an episodic release format, and doing a great job of keeping his own schedule, it should be noted, and I just stated that I'd like it if he released all the story at once rather than continue to release in episodic fashion.
I started this story for the premise. Despite my previous misgivings I sure as hell do want to know how in the name of Faust is this story going to continue. While (considering POV of the main characters) there seems no way this "farce" of a relationship can go on, I see no finished status on the story. I didn't hear no bell!
As it had been a reminder to me, let it be unto others: Confuse not the actions and thought processes of the characters with those of the author!
Damn author you should warn that this chapter was plagued with an army of onion cutting ninjas

Funny how forgetting to type just three words really changes the meaning of a sentence lol. To be completely honest, that was just my bad in typing that. What I was trying to have Luna convey, was that at that point of their time together, she'd grown to like Anon as herself, just as much as she did when she was Nightshade. It wasn't meant to be a contradiction. That was just my bad in writing it and not rereading it closely enough.
Where are these FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF-Fucking ninjas coming from?
Can't wait for the conclusion of this!
11055513
Actually, I think it's perfectly fine to leave it as is. It seems in character with Luna, already suffering a breakdown, to be willing to make the mortal mistake of backtracking and pretty much lying to her husbands face for the sake of trying to appeal to his person. It seems an honest slip up and is understandable given the situation. However, just because we could forgive Luna, that doesn't mean we the readers have to forget just who is suffering from her mind games. Anon deserves justice for their stupidity, even if we know they truly do love him. The Diarchs actions do indeed weigh more than their intentions, unfortunately for them.
And, in a way, the interaction highlights how flawed the characters of Luna and Celestia are that they assumed, and still assume, they are exempt from certain consequences of their actions; a belief no doubt strengthened by millennia of unopposed rule. In fact, wasn't the whole reason Celestia is in this situation, her signing of a document she didn't expect to ever hold any weight, to the point of completely forgetting such a life-changing document ever existed, proof of her flawed character?
I may be the odd one out in thinking that Anon is overreacting here and will eventually realize that he’s thinking just as much of himself only as he’s accusing Celestia and Luna of doing.
Of course, then again I don’t think I’d personally have responded to the reveal the way he did in the first place because the concept of a “secret identity” as a notionally perfectly acceptable trope has been with me pretty much since childhood. For all I know, Anon’s may have featured significantly less exposure to fictional masked vigilantes...
While I can really appreciate that anon feels betrayed in some ways, I think that Jav letting anon drown his sorrows in alcohol isn't healthy at all.
And I hope that once Anon calms down that he realizes that the fact both Celestia & Luna fell for him in their younger forms should show that they genuinely do care about him beyond protecting themselves from the nobility when it comes to the marriage law. As Raven pointed out, there is going to be a lot of baggage that comes with being a partner of the immortal rulers of Equestria and if anything, Sunshine and Nightshade are a way to be with Celestia & Luna, not Princess Celestia & Princess Luna.
That isn't to make excuses for how the Princesses played with Anon's emotions, and certainly he has every right to be angry with them. I guess, maybe naïvely, I think it would be a shame to remain hurt over two people who genuinely cared for and then loved you, because the way they went about it was dumb.
11055327
That one doesn't really seem like a lie to me. How you think & act isn't a 1:1 match for how you feel. In this case it's the difference between how a horny teenager thinks & acts around someone they're attracted to VS how that same person would think & act around the same object of their affection at age 30.
okay, we've gone through the wallowing chapter, time for some momentum in the story to get us out of this cliche.
11056778
There's still a couple of chapters of wallowing to come. I promise that the ending of the story will make up for it though.
Tissue! Tissue!
Come and get your tissue!
Its only 0.99$ for one pack!!

Maybe not healthy, but is certainly realistic.
... This is fairly realistic set of reactions for the characters overall. I do find it kind of odd among the majority of commenters that Anon being aware of and playing along with the subterfuge subconsciously or even semi-consciously is being glossed over(by the commenters, not by the Author). He seems just as upset with Celestia and Luna for failing to maintain the charade as he is with them starting it in the first place. This situation has the unhealthy undertone of, "If you lie to me then don't stop lying to me, if the lie's preferable to the truth."
Anon wanted things to match-up with his assumptions, so he clung onto the falsehood he saw through to support a false narrative because it was less stressful than the reality he was in. There's a lot of desperate narcissism involved in the three main characters decision making here, it's understandable and easy to empathize with, but leaves everyone actively involved to be at fault to one degree or another.
Nobody's blameless even though the Celestia and Luna are the most at fault here.
"Anon shook his head, "So what? Even if they actually do feel the same way about me, the trust is gone. Dead. Obliterated. Fucking nuked. "
godamnit anon, i will choke the boy outta you!
This might get a mixed rating, but to me I like this kind of behavior from Anon, I mean he is staying to what he thought and said, and even after a day or two he doesn't change his behavior and character like going back to them with the easy and usually used cliché of you are both forgiven, it is understandable, I get it you played with me and it's alright...
Noo.
He is still angry, devastated, broken and incredibly disappointed in them playing through this act and playing with him not only once - he get very quickly notified by the real intention they had in mind back then after the very start - but twice now, and it was definitely the bigger blow and this all is building up in this kind of situation.
The overall intentions of the sisters may have been good, but it would have been so much more easier and understandable that in a private location, back then, shortly after the very start when they were seeing him as Sunshine and Nightshade, they would have told him their real - self with a possible reason that they still feel like this in both form, but they just can't go and act as normal mare(s) in their normal princess form.
It might not have made much of a difference from were we are now but at least he would possibly understand it more that way, and wouldn't have to wait on this act until like this terrible timed revelation...
So, in a way I would really like to go on this route we are on right now, with a very slow and measured healing that would come with it would be understandable and so much more real feel like.
(It's just an extra thought and would be a bonus factor as well that that way the story would be longer so we could enjoy it a lot more, I at least certainly would)
Thank you and looking forward to see how this goes.
Dot
This is a right mess y'all made for yourselves. I think Celestia hit the nail on the head, the path to hell is paved with good intentions. The sad thing is CW has given us every indication that the story is going to end with Anon and the Princesses getting together, while I'm over here like, swear off mares and have a hetero-bromance with our boy Javelin!
The struggle is bitter... but it makes the reunion all the sweeter to read!
And, for these characters' sake, their bond would be more stable.
Even though I’m in a loving relationship myself, I keep chanting to myself “be bitter, stay bitter, be bitter, stay bitter”
We need a hero if the heart, we need Cadance!
Where is lovebutt anyway?!
Sooo... Is Chrysalis or another Changeling coming to safe Anons heart from loneliness?
Luna's pleas hit the nail on the head, it was so REAL. Too bad Anon wasn't in a forgiving mood.
You’re both suggesting that the princesses gang up on Anon at a public event?
