Well, I can definitely see another shitstorm coming in the future, when Anon finds out about the deception that Celestia (and likely soon to be Luna too) are pulling with the social activity while disguised (and him not being aware of that fact).
I mean, he was very less than pleased with the lie of omission regarding the drugged tea, and now they are actively deceiving him by altering their appearance to interact with him as if they were different ponies, without letting him in on that? I know I'd be pretty pissed off about that.
And let's not forget that he seems to be smitten with 'Sunshine'... so yeah, Celestia needs to learn to dig UP.

I say it a dangerous game but in all of their years it the first time they tackle well…been engage in this way. So they are trying to find a solution to their problem. Not in a healthy way at the start sure but they are working real hard to make things work.
The author is right we shouldn't be to harsh on the two. This dumb law really caught them off guard
If I'm allowed to guess were this story is going, I believe what is going to happen is that since Celestia and Luna are both going to try and spend time with Anon in their disguised forms. They're going to start dating in those forms and realise that they are falling in love with him, while Anon will fall in love with Sunshine and [Insert Luna disguise name].
Love the story so far, can't wait for more.
Unless Anon has gained super speed or something. I doubt very highly he could return for dinner in the time luna and celly had their talk

Actually that raise a good point, Anon left when it was morning, he went to the bar to had breakfast even, I don't think he and Celestia talk more than an hour maybe 2 (because I highly dought they talk for almost 6 or 7 hours straight without any of them getting starving and just drinking a single mug of cider). And confirmed when Javeline return with their food so they can eat that establish is still early in the morning AT best midday.
Then Celestia apperantly returnin in time to lower the sun.

Still not liking Celestia and Luna much. They STILL care more about themselves and their status over everything else. Also, what's Celestia gonna do IF Anon falls in love with 'Sunshine'? How will Anon feel that the mare he fell in love with is just a front?
While it seems that Anon isn't the smartest tool in the shed, he also isn't that dumb either. And Sunbutt's plans aren't the best so far. her plan for both to woo/hang out in disguise can blow up in their muzzles if he finds out.

I will still chuck that to emotional vulnerable. Which all 3 are. Love and fear in this case can make us not think clearly. All of them have a mountain on their plates I mean how would you feel if a monarch approach you and just claim 'you are gonna a be her husband' Anon has a storm in his mind.
As for the princess, he is a human not a diplomant, and I will chuck this up to a slight clash of culture, I mean you know how ponies are. If the show and the story has taught you something is that ponies are impulsive, emotional, and a bit naive, in general.
Maybe THIS is something that has happen before I mean she though he meant it when he joke about Luna killing him. I will still give them a bit of a slack and give them a chance because they are genually trying. They are tackling the issue all wrong but hey this is comedy, not a slice of life, of course we need some dumb decition that is how you build the punch line.
The important thing here is…the author has an idea and he is planning something big for all of us.

Anon’s reaction to ‘Sunshine’ just being Celestia all over again will depend a lot on the reveal’s timing and circumstances, I think. Yes, this could all too easily turn into another disastrous misunderstanding that blows up in their combined faces...but on the other hand, for all that the two may not have spontaneously fallen in love with him, they do at least seem to genuinely care about his happiness as well as their own. So now the trick is mainly in convincing him of that as well.
I'm interested in where this is going, like it so far. I also like that theres friction and its ongoing, or at least some discomfort lingering. Having things cleared up super quickly always feels like a copout.

Sunshine returns to the castle at sundown to lower the sun. Anon was at the bar in the morning, so he's had ample time to return. I kinda figured she just went around town a bit as a normal pony just to see what it's like and lost track of time.

I think you need to understand the context a bit better. Anon's kinda in a weird mental state right now. He's angry and frustrated, but he's also reasonable and has human desires and urges. His reason for blowing up on the Princesses is literally because they wouldn't let him have love in his life under their rules. So to run into a mare that seems interested in him and genuinely nice almost immediately after is just a shock for him.
Look, clearly you had some idea of where this story was going, but I didn't put a drama tag in the story because I didn't want it to be a drama-fest. Having Anon just hate them for the rest of the story because they wronged him just makes the story like, 10 chapters long. It's about 30 chapters long. There's a lot of room for things to change and improve or even get worse. I'm really torn because I want to defend my story and my work, but I don't want to spoil anything.
So I guess take this with a grain of salt. This story has a bit of a slower pace than what I usually write. The story is a romance. If you just wanted to have Anon blow up at the Princesses and make them feel like shit for half the story, then I'm sorry but you've come to the wrong story. All I can say is that we're not even a third of the way through the story yet. If you don't want to keep reading, then I understand, otherwise, please just be a bit patient. Changes are coming.

It's a shitty situation, I'll admit. Anon is getting screwed here, but no one can expect Celestia and Luna to risk their own heads and status over him, a guy who they still don't even quite know personally (something I really hope changes soon.)

I don't normally comment all that much when it comes to stories on Fimfiction. But this is actually a really good story (I've actually started reading your other 'human' stories thanks to this one) I can tell that this is probably going to be a bit of a slow burn story, which I am completely fine with, hell, you could probably make a sequel out of it where he does end up making a herd, though, that's completely up to you.

I'm still in this but personally I just don't get the direction it's going. It lead with them making a bad move, then after apologizing and getting the explosive reaction they had and him running off to the bar with Javelin, I just don't get why someone that's supposed to be as old and world wise as Celestia could think that shapshifting and lying was the best route, then telling Luna to do the same which will inevitably backfire (slip of the ye' old equish) and if he easily forgives them for going behind his back again then I can't stick with this one. It's like someone trying to hit on you and it failing miserably so they make a fake internet profile and try to become your friend so they can tell you to give the real them another chance, it sounds scummy as all get out) I just see that this point could have just as easily been resolved with Raven going to the bar to help convince him or Javelin trying to get him to give the princesses another chance (maybe even another opportunity for more with the Javelin/Raven subplot) and getting to roughly the same place without setting up more avoidable drama. The way it's going, I don't want them to get together cause their relationship is sounding really unstable from go.

Okay, some people giving Luna part of the flak reserved for Celly - those people need to stop.
Celestia has every reason to do whatever it takes to make this work. Even if she normally would be morally and emphatically above abusing other ponies, or in this case people for her own gain, this is not for her own gain. Well yes, but actually no. She cannot have Luna take the fall with her thanks to the nature of their relationship, so it is only natural she would do all in her power to prevent just that. That has felt "by design".
What threw me off of this is when Celestia, whose legendary pokerface is canon, who was very deliberate in her speech even towards her sister would so openly display her true emotions in a public setting, even if disguised. But still, could be by design. How Anon has missed the whole I didn't? Downvote me to hell, I might be projecting here (though that is the purpose of a good Anon story) but how has he missed that is beyond me. He has every reason to think this whole ordeal stinks. He's been drugged, lied to and used. He didn't believe this situation to be real in the first place, and then someone whose eyes look damn like Celestia's slips and uses "I" out loud when she is being addressed in the third person? While being grilled on the nature of their "falling out"? I'm sorry but that's when I call bull. Which is a shame because I love the dialogues and the pacing of this story. But, and maybe that's why lotsa people are calling for this to blow up in Celestia's muzzle, is that You have loaded the Chekhov's gun when Anon got lied to, and was treated as garbage, pointed it, when Celestia went to clandestinely get information off of him on how to control and leash him better after he told her that ain't gonna fly, and when she slipped up I expected the Bang of the last two chapters to happen. Needless to say, it did not, and that's why I think a lot of people wait for the tension to release. Apropriately.

I'm just wondering how Javelin will react once the Princesses deception is revealed. Or hell, will Anon get the mistaken impression that Javelin was in on it since he suggested they go get drinks and even selected the bar where they happened to meet the disguised Celestia. There's so much potential for this volatile concoction of deception to spread beyond just the marriage of convenience.

I think I get what you're going for with what Celestia talked to Luna about easing up on their conditions for Anon, especially given that Celestia was firm in the notion that the nobility can't actually do anything more than complain about Anon dating other mares, and since she already stated that when those nobles do complain, probably in the form of twisting facts to make it sound like blatant adultery all the while having smarmy grins on their faces, they will be given the cover story she already presented Luna; seeking herd sisters. Even if it's not the truth, it's a story that contains the truth; that being that Anon has their consent to be with other mares. So all this is well and good as a means of bettering the situation, but there's one bit that makes me a bit uneasy, aside from the whole 'continued deception' bit I laid out above. This:
Maybe it's just the way you worded it, but what the hell is this? What price are the sisters paying, exactly? Having to quell uppity nobles? How is that anything but fair? Anon is going along with this, even willing to give them another chance, and he's intent on keeping their secret even if he decides he's had enough. Doing her best to ensure he isn't shafted by the situation she tricked him into is the least Celestia can do. And yes, she did trick him into it. He didn't know he was being thrown into a loveless marriage until after the fact.
That's what everyone's upset about by the way. The whole thing has been a constant string of deceptions. Celestia has not been upfront with him about anything, just leading him along. And when he's not being deceived, he's being told in no uncertain terms how things are going to be for him. He has no agency in this situation at all, and that's a form of abusive relationship. That's why the commenters are all rooting for him to get out and/or for the princesses to lose in some way in the end.
All that said, I just had another look at the story's cover page, particularly the spoiler'd part of the description, and I think I just had an epiphany of how this story is likely to go from here. Sunshine and Moonglow* will get to know Anon so it happens starting from a place of neutrality. Sunshine of course had her turn, so next it's Moonglow's turn. Beyond that, at the promised rendezvous with Sunshine, Anon will bring a flower or something and ask her on a date. Sunshine will be so caught off guard that she teleports away on instinct after standing there in shock, and Anon will get the wrong idea that he was just rejected. Celestia will then confide in Luna in a panicked way that Anon just asked to date her disguise, and while it will take some back and forth to get there, Luna will come to the conclusion that this might be the best outcome for all three of them. It presents a better opportunity to do as Celestia suggested and get to know Anon while also giving Anon the chance to try to love somepony without Celestia or Luna having to worry about Anon letting anything sensitive slip by mistake (in other words, still traces of that same manipulation, but as you said yourself, they're trying). Then Celestia will freak out about the fact that she just left Anon hanging.
...And that's as far as I'm going with my prediction.

I don't know. I'm still kinda iffy about this whole thing. Celestia is just layering deceptions here, and eventually it's gonna come crashing down. She definitely seems like she feels bad that Anon is unhappy, which is good, but she still doesn't seem like she gets what she's doing is wrong. She's still manipulating Anon and not letting him come to terms with his own feelings on the matter.
I'm also not sure what she means by "that's a price I'm willing to pay" about Anon possibly dating another mare; she literally just reiterated that any relationship would have to be a secret, and if anyone found out they could play it off as Anon looking at expending his harem. So even if he finds a mare willing to be with him, he can't offer any of the normal dating things; no dates, no public affection, no chance of future marriage or moving in together.
Plus Luna feels like you just did a total 180 with her character. She does definitely came across as hostile and really not liking Anon, and while it's definitely understandable in the situation, instead of owning up that she's really upset about everything I think you just kind of took the low-hanging fruit and blamed it on her being out of touch with the current world.
I know this has been just a wall of complaints, but I'm really hoping they're coming across as constructive. I think this story has a lot of potential; you have really good prose, your dialogue and pacing are exemplary, and overall you're just a great writer. But you've already laid the groundwork for a dozen really cliched tropes, and I think you're better than that.

I wanna say that, in this world of absolutes, people tend to be very polarized in their opinions. doubly so when defending their own work.
Whilst I feel like your critics are being a bit too harsh, you did make a misstep or 2 in characterization in earlier chapters. that said, you made a fairly quick turnaround and this is a learning experience.
I'm still quite enjoying the story, and looking forward to the future, but felt like giving you a breath of fresh air on the topic so to speak. Dont keep me waiting too long for the next chapter champ, I can't wait
