Popcorn Pony

Where you come from can say a lot more about you than where you are...

T

What follows is a fictional survival story based off of real events. Pocornia, passionate fiction writer and gourmet popcorn selling entrepreneur is struggling to stay afloat in a society plagued by a strange virus. Her situation deteriorates, leading her down a very dark path...

-Authors Note-

This story covers a very serious topic that I feel is getting overlooked in the age of Covid, bad mental health. If such content is too much for you to read then do not read this story. However, links to sites discussing mental health have been provided at the end of the story for anyone wants to check them out.

Great to see you writing again. Good story.

Well...the story was not written for entertainment purposes, but i'll take the positive feedback.

I'm glad this story is getting some sort of response out of people. However, the point of the story is what is important. If you have a IRL friend with a mental health condition, might want to check in on them more often.

Here's the question then. Why bring the real world pandemic into this? This kind of story does not need to bring that into it for it to work.

Some of the hate is most likely coming in because you brought that into this. Ponies and Covid is a thing that should not be a thing (common sense that ponies wouldn't even get a human virus).

Alright, i'll need to break a few things down to answer your question.

Quote:"Ponies and Covid is a thing that should not be a thing (common sense that ponies wouldn't even get a human virus)."

The only response I can offer you is that this is a fictional story we are talking about, although it may be based off of real events, it is ultimately a fictional story therefore anything can be written.

Quote:"Why bring the real world pandemic into this?"

As I said in the description, this story was based off of real events...Will you put two and two together? A fictional story based off of real events featuring my OC in a Covid stricken world, who do you think she is mirroring?

The answer:"The guy who wrote the story!"

Quote:"Some of the hate is most likely coming in because you brought that into this."

I don't care if I tick people off, I didn't write this story for people who would find this offensive and I was very upfront about that in the description. If somebody was sensitive to certain topics, don't read the story...

I wrote the story to shed some light on a societal issue that I think is getting overlooked. Yes, everyone is struggling..., but people with severe mental disorders such as Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, Chronic Depression, etc are taking the hardest hits. I wasn't the only psych patient in the Emergency Room and I am sure I won't be the last one. I hope...maybe by writing this story, somebody else in the world will ask for help sooner rather than later thus avoiding the situation I ended up in or maybe somebody who knows someone who has a mental health condition will check on that person more often.

Quote:"This kind of story does not need to bring that into it for it to work."

For it to work? Are me and you reading the same story? There is definitely mixed opinions about this story, some people are really on board with it and some people aren't. Irregardless, obviously something worked or this story never would have been written to begin with. That is part of why I left the ending so open ended, something worked even tho it didn't look like it, but I wanted the reader to draw their own conclusion on the result.

I wrote this story to try to help myself feel better and to help others, not to hurt others...

All the imaginative challenged people aside, I liked this and felt a reality feel in this.

Thanks for the follow!

About 2 years later and I'm re-reading this one, not in a good spot mentally, but I picked up a creative writing course because I want to get back into creative writing. The way I read it, the ending has a different meaning now then it did when I first uploaded it. Funny how life works like that.

Anyway, stuff to work on.
