Dug serves as the mail dog to the small town of Bad Rock when an unusual package arrives in the form of a small colt named Bit. Although the delivery of Bit to his aunt seems like a simple enough task, Dug will soon find that his job just got a lot harder than anyone could have predicted.

I think you're selling yourself short. This was good for written up in an afternoon.
Somehow, I was expecting Bit to be put in the bag with the mail. Don't know why, just did. Interesting background on the story's creation, though.
