Howdy there, friend! Your friendly neighborhood Pinkie Pie here! Welcome to Sugarcube Corner!
Oh, you're here for the usual pecan muffins?
Not today? Oh...well, if you're in the mood to try something new, I finally perfected my recipe for broccoli and hazelnut cupcakes?
What's that? You've never heard of them? *GASP* Oh, dear sweet thing, if you haven't tried my broccoli hazelnut cupcakes then you haven't LIVED, baby! LIVED I SAY!
I've got some of the spare batter in the kitchen right now! Just give me fifteen minutes!
...
...
...um, Houston, we have a problem.
Oh, don't ask who Houston even is, I don't know either! But it's a catchy thing to say, right?
See, these cupcakes need eleven minutes to bake. I have to crank the heat up SUPER high for the best results. That super crunchy bite with the right amount of sweet and bitter...that, filly, is art! If art was delicious.
Well, if you're asking if I have a timer...Mr and Mrs Cake are borrowing it right now. And the clock's still at the menders.
But I DO have...(hang on, they're in my mane somewhere...ah, there we go) ...a pair of hourglasses that I stash away in case of hourglass emergencies! But I mean, really? I somehow haven't hidden away any timers in case of timer emergencies? I swear I'd forget my head if it wasn't screwed on, except if my head WASN'T screwed on then it'd fall off and I couldn't breathe or eat or snore or belch or yodel or-
Oh yeah. Cupcakes. And the lack thereof.
But anyway, they need eleven minutes in the oven and all I have are these. Have you got a watch?
No? Well, worth a try!
start both timers
When the 5 minutes is done flip it
When the 8 minutes are done flip the 5 minute timer
Ask a friend if they can borrow a timer. Also, wait, she doesn't have timers everywhere for timer emergencies?
- Turn both the 5 minute and the 8 minute.
- When the 5 minute is done, flip it immediately.
- When the 8 minute is done, flip the 5 minute again.
So, that would be 5+3+3=11 minutes.
I hope it's good, Pinkie.
Start both hour glass.
Put Cupcakes in when five is done.
When the eight is finished, flip the eight one.
3+8
Ha! Easy-peasy-lemon-squeasy!
Start off both 5-minute and 8-minute hourglasses. When 5 minutes are up, START baking! When the 8-minute one catches up, it'll have been 3 minutes of baking. Restart the 8-minute one. When the sand is through, it'll have been 11 minutes of baking.
YOU'RE WELCOME, Pinkie!
By the way:
For some reason this reminded me of Lewis Carroll's "Alice"!
And I'm pretty sure, Pinkie's head is not screwed on, but suppose, it were, so Pinkie would say: "I'd forget my head, it weren't screwed on". However Pinkie's head is not screwed on anyway, so wouldn't it be more appropriate to say: "I'd have forgotten my head, if it hadn't been screwed on"? Or, maybe: "I could forget my head, if it not be screwed on", -- but I'm not sure about the last one .
