To cut the burning time in half, the fuses need to be lit at both ends.

1. Light both ends of one fuse, and only one end of the other fuse at the same time. It will take thirty seconds for the fuse lit at both ends to burn up. (30 seconds)
2. Once it's burnt up, light the other end of the remaining fuse.
3. You have 30 seconds worth of fuse, and now you've lit the other end it takes 15 seconds to burn through. (45 seconds)
