Ooo, neat opening! I look forward to seeing where this goes. I'd recommend seeking some cover art just to bolster the curb appeal. The only real issue I spotted was one instance of switching to present tense.
I used footnotes in my story You've Got Spam! by taking advantage of the less-advertised left_insert and/or right_insert tags. The "footnotes" then just appear a little below and to the side of the rest of the text. It's not exactly the same but I feel it makes for a more readable and enjoyable experience versus having to scroll all the way down to find 'em.

A lot of the most appropriate cover art would be spoilers to be honest, but I think I can find something. I'll definitely try right_insert, it seems like the best that can be done without anchors. It's too bad too, since there's already bbcode implementations of them out there.
Also dammit, I knew there would be some present tense that I missed, writing Glint's little technobabble monologue messed me up for the next few paragraphs and I had to go back and change things.

Yeah, I'm pretty blatantly lifting some of her new aesthetic directly from ol' Terry, to say nothing of my writing style which is honestly the more gross example of my Pratchett obsession.
In all seriousness though I probably won't get that wacky with this one - I tend to rather quickly lose patience with stories that decide to do away with most logical consistency. But hey, you never know, I might find a reason for it...

Well, isn't this an interesting concept. And a bit of a surprise, too - I assumed that the end of the previous chapter meant that Death was an already-existing... being? in Equestria and that he had a few choice words about Twilight finding a workaround for his duty.
Still, this is certainly a fascinating idea. And it's rather poetic, in a way, after Failsafe brought Twilight back to life and helped her become the Alicorn of death, that the first death (from a certain point of view) she presided over... was Failsafe itself. Perhaps that was responsible for her new domain as much as her resurrection.
So, yeah, I'll definitely be interested in where you go with this.

Damnit, I knew there'd be typos; it's the worst when it's cases like discrete vs discreet, where you end up with an actual word so the helpful red line doesn't even show up. Also good point on the AU tag, forgot that existed somehow.
It's been ages since I've had time to work on anything like this and I've been unsure how to progress, but maybe inspiration will strike. Thanks for the feedback anyways - the more obligation I feel to people interested in seeing what happens the more likely I am to get off my butt and work on this thing.
I can see from the tags that this story is actually nothing like the movie "Weird Science," Where a bunch of horny nerds accidentally create a sexy woman from a computer program.
'Cause I would read the hell out of a story where a bunch of lonely brony weirdos accidentally make a flesh and blood Twilight Sparkle from a computer program and try to romance her, but she just ends up teaching them about how to make friends and become well-adjusted members of society capable of getting their own human girlfriends. That would be a cool story to read.
These were the ingredients chosen to create the perfect little purple pony princess. But Light Bloom accidentally added an extra ingredient to the concoction... Math.
Shades of Dr. Manhattan...
I absolutely love this story and would like to see more of twilight's death alicorn shenanigans, I still have hopes that this story isn't dead
