The Grey Pegasus

Pony stuff author since 2012. Writes supposedly good stuff. Still haven't made a break. Still persistent. Probably highly unlucky. Or hated by the universe. Either determined or insane. Or both.

E

A storm is headed for Ponyville, and it seems like there's nothing Weather Patrol could do about it. So instead, they'll all have to wait it out indoors. And what's waiting out a storm without books? The library's always open for those seeking books; how hard can it be?

A satire written by a frustrated author, venting about a recently common frustration (involving 50Xs, thank goodness it's over). Expect metaphors, analogies, and allusions. I don't think this counts as meta, so.... Enjoy.

Okay. Got this out of my head. Now I can start writing again.

I'm not sure what the ending is supposed to mean.

It all feels anti-climactic. They only show up for a few minutes in a day to check out books we already knew they would like. The only problems we see are minor inconveniences with opening the library door.

Is Twilight annoyed by her friends' visits? It feels out of character for her. They only bothered her for a few minutes out of entire days that she otherwise had to herself. They weren't rude or destructive, they were quick about their business, and Twilight shows no sign of being annoyed earlier in the story. It seems like an overreaction for her to shut her friends out in the rain and cold.

Actually, this story was me getting really annoyed over how much times the site was down for the past week. I turned my emotions into a story. It wasn't supposed to be an excellent story at any means.

As for the ending, I thought it out as just her monthly reshelving type thing. Again, it's not completely well-written/thought out. I just really needed to get it out of my head so I could work on other stuff.

That's... actually a terribly creative idea. :pinkiegasp: I'd go so far as to say that with some more TLC, it could be a masterfully stealthy satire, but of course if people don't get the joke it will fall flat anyway.

Ha! I guess being new to this site makes me the person least likely to understand your metaphor, then.

Sorry. Knighty finished site maintenance by the time you joined. It was 502s and 504s everywhere every hour. Hence, '502 Fiction'.

It's certainly not bad, but I like your other works better. Frustrated venting writing isn't always best writing, unfortunately :applejackunsure: Especially when there's a distinct lack of interesting events as well as a not very well thought out storyline and ending.
All in all, it was rather meh and pointless, but I at least enjoyed the fact that you stayed true to the character's with a realistic portrayal of dialogue, and that's always important.
For now, have a dislike, and I wish you better luck next time, good sir. No hard feelings :moustache:

Problem was, I couldn't focus on writing anything else until I cleared myself of frustration that came with the site's server problems. Thus became this. Thanks for the feedback though.

No problem. I totally understand WHY you wrote it, it's just that I still had to judge it as a story itself. Always good to get your thoughts out, though :rainbowlaugh:

Good idea, but it could use a little more story.

What do you mean? All I was doing was making fun of the 502 gateway errors at the time I wrote this.

I know you did. The thing is it doesn't really build up to anything or go anywhere, it just ends with an anticlimax and nothing gets resolved.
