Eventual Perception

I write crappy stories. I don't have a lot of time and most of them don't make sense.

She heard the voice echo through the skies, emanating from the black box which had landed before them. It was calm, direct, simple and yet somehow, Twilight could feel as though it held great authority. What she heard next chilled her, yet made her all the more curious.

"Hello. Do not be afraid. My name is Karellen, and I am the supervisor of Equestria."

You know that Barlowe's guide is a collection of images derived from science fiction stories that Barlowe himself did not actually write, correct?

6738379 Yes, I own the book. Hence, the title, as it is a series of crossovers with science fiction novels in which ponies themselves do not feature in.

...why are they anthro? Anthro adds nothing to the story. In fact, it detracts from it; Overlords would look more like anthro ponies than show-accurate ponies, which puts less stock in the 'we look like nothing you've ever seen' argument (which I don't believe is accurate anyway).

6738981 I don't know, just how I did it. Besides, it's kind of pocking fun of the entire thing, you know; like, every science fiction thing almost ever the alien is a man in a suit, which is incredibly humanoid for being a human, you know? Just roll with it, I guess.

...that... what? That's no explanation at all...

In almost every science fiction show I've seen, the aliens are basically humanoid, right? Even xenomorphs are humanoid in form. so I guess making them anthro was kind of poking fun at that - look, they're so different and alien and yet they're exactly the same, because the alien is always a man in the suit. Not much of a satisfying answer, I suppose, but you know, it's all good campy fun.

Star Trek has had numerous nonhumanoid intelligences from even the first series. Granted, the big players are humanoid, but there are examples throughout. Furthermore, the book you're basing this fic on is more about nonhumanoid intelligences then it is about humanoids.

I think you're trying to apply campyness to a side of sci fi that is distinctly not campy, which causes a mental disconnect in my brain since I don't see this as a comedy at all.

Something is gonna break with all this tension between everything. Will Trixie be explained later to what happened to her?

6741407 Oh snap, that'd be a great idea, wouldn't it?

Awesome chapters you are doing a amazing job. I can't wait read more of your chapters especially with riddick in them. :pinkiehappy::pinkiehappy:
