Tbh the way the plot is going right now is getting really aggravating to me at this point;
- Nightmare is placed at the complete mercy of Celestia/Luna/others after losing mostly due to combination of luck / circumstances and going out of her way to be relatively soft with her prisoners allowing them easy escape.
- Nightmare completely losing her ambition and the will to live after Vinyl's death. No matter how important that bond was both to her and for the story - right now NMM just feels like a completely different character that is really hard to sympathize. Not a fickle of a desire for vengeance too.
- We are being stuck in this Limbo of pityfullness / powerlessness / uselessness for all of the main cast that I cared about (NMM and Eclipse) for quite a few chapters already and it's only getting worse, especially with the "good guys" attitude that can even seriously consider executing NMM.
Really hope that sticking to the story and not dropping would not be a personal mistake here... Very few things would be worse than a garbage-smelling "reformation" or "redemption" especially when they are forced similarly hard.

yeah. The fact that NMM feels absolutely no desire to take vengeance on the humans is very, very confusing. I'm all for redemption, but it should not be happening at this point in this story at all.

It's ... a "little" bit more than that. Nightmare existed literally for thousands of years, done a great deal of things over all that time and had a will strong enough to endure a literal thousand years of sitting down and waiting. That all for her dreams and ambitions. I flat out refuse to accept her bond with Vinyl suddenly overriding all of that and making it completely meaningless in comparison. Having strong feelings is one thing. Especially for the first time ever.
But If the main point of the story is about that specific bond negating all that made Nightmare herself before - I can only take that as a personal insult to both the character an myself.
I feel like in some way Luna want that old friend back even though she herself can't explain it but then again I may be reading into things, I have literally just hinged this story over the last couple of days and I love it when I find a gem like yours there are only a select few that have kept me engaged after the first chapter and you got me to 68, now I can't wait for the next chapter hope it comes soon
These last few chapters have been pretty deep.
Can't wait for the next one.
I came back to point out to the other comments with out marking them...
Nightmare is a creature of desire and ambition. Her relationship with Vinyl was desire. To keep her safe and alive until it was her time.
Nightmare sat and waited on the moon for almost a millenium because of desire.
She cannot bring Vinyl back to life. Her friend. Her desire.
The one thing she valued the most was torn away from her. And revenge will not bring her back either.
Destroy that which one desires and treasures that cannot be replaced, and they will fall apart.
Nightmare is in a place where no one should be. And the only one who understood her beneath her mask is gone and never coming back.
