Apocalyptic Fries

"Because he's MY butler."

E

A short, sad story about how the Human-in-Equestria trope would more likely play out. If you disappeared into Equestria, and had no way home, you would probably have to settle in someplace with ponies you've never even heard of and who probably wouldn't give you the time of day. And when anyone came by to ask about you, the townsponies would probably ask, "What human?"

A realistic Human-in-Equestria story told from beginning to end, if indeed it has either one.

Ok. Interesting concept.

But in my opinion the complete opposite of something bad (mary-sue-style tales of HiE) is not automaticly good.
It is (or it would) be true, that the live of a human in Equestria wouldn't be as fancy as often told - but otherwise it wouldn't be THAT bland.

You have tried to avoid unrealistic clichés just to trap yourself in anti-clichés alike unrealistic.

We had the "ponies love humen"-extreme, we had the "ponies-are-racistic-douchebags-and-hate-humen"-extreme and now...
the "ponies completly ignore humen for no reason"-extreme. Its unrealistic alike all other "extremes".

Please don't see this as offense.
Your writing although is decent and nice. Its just sad to see, that you missed a good chance to write an interesting HiE-story, here.

Sad but I don't think that's how it would work out. They certainly would take an interest and know about humans if EqG is canon.

I don't really see it like that, I see it as them seeing him as just another 'pony', if you will.
Just because they don't see him as anything more than that doesn't mean they are intentionally ignoring him for no reason. Rather, he seems to be going out of his way to avoid socializing, not striving to be anything more than an acquaintance and living away from everyone else.

5472213 I fully respect what you have to say. And I do have to agree, seeing a human in Equestria would spark SOME kind of reaction (especially if it had potential consequences for Equestria's security, if nothing else). I'm as guilty as the rest of them when it comes to reading HiEs, and I figured this story would draw mixed reactions (I literally just posted it today, was honestly not expecting such a quick turnaround for ratings, views & such!). I just wanted to take a cliché and turn it upon its head, and you're right, it can easily end up a new cliché like that.

All that being said...

Its just sad to see, that you missed a good chance to write an interesting HiE-story, here.

You, my good fellow, have given me a new idea. I might actually do something with that now. It'd be interesting to see a story with the idea I presented in this one and more of the staple clichés like hanging-out with the Mane 6 all the time, a healthy mix between the two. That, I suppose, would be the best HiE story.

5472302 I personally couldn't give a rip about EqG, but again I totally get that seeing a human in Equestria when there haven't been previously would spark more of a reaction, even if not much more. I think at least they'd investigate a possible security risk, and then sort of go, "Well, okay, he's not a threat, so let him go wherever he pleases and do whatever he likes," when it turned out there was no threat.

5473482 I also don't think they'd ignore him or not care about him. They'd certainly treat him like any other being, pony or not, and I'm sure if the guy made an effort to connect more to them, they'd accept him. After all, isn't that what Equestria is all about? You kinda painted them as not giving a shit to non ponies or so cold to someone who is blatantly different to ponies. I mean a human is kinda hard to forget.

Indeed. This would be interesting. I think, one of the best ways to do any crossover / HiE / alternate universe is, to drop something at the mlp-universe and just let the ponies react in their way.
For this there are plenty cool concepts (Like this crossover on DA) or some of the "Falllout Equestria" stories.
A really nice approach to HiE was this one.

I have read your other stories - they are really cool written, so I suppose you can do it.
P.S. I am still upset for let me loosing the game. Darn it... I'VE LOST THE GAME... again. :rainbowlaugh:
