My Story

My name is Joshua Manuel, and I'm here to tell you my story. I was a teen artist brony, working all the time on art, and pleasing others, along with school. I looked like your average teen, with black hair, blue eyes, and a plain face. My height was average, along with everything else, but this wouldn't matter later. My family never really do much with me, but they help me with my life. But I always had a wish.

I wished to go to Equestria.

I had my OC, my fanfics, all the things I could do to convince myself it would happen one day, but it never seem to come. Days, weeks, even years passed, doing my daily things, but nothing had ever happened, I had no idea what would be happening at the time.

It was 11:00 PM at night at my messy room, and I had been scanning through my Deviantart, seeing the comments I had during the night, hateful or supportive, when I looked at my reflection on my computer screen. Bags under my blue eyes, messed up black hair, and my sleepy frown. I closed my computer, and sulked to the bed, plopping on the soft, white covers. I never even bothered to put the sheets on me, just closed my eyes, and drifted off into the darkness.

During the times I sleep, I never dream, just slept. Everytime I woke up, it felt great. When I woke up the next day though, I still had my eyes closed, and I felt different. I passed it off as my terrible lack of sleep, and tried getting up when I realized how my body was. When I opened my eyes, I saw black hooves on the grass, with my arms having a soft coat of dark grey.

I just jumped, but my legs hurt as I did. Laying on my back, I looked all over me. The best I could see was my hind and front legs, being a mesh of black hooves, and a dark grey coat. My flank also had a dark grey coat, and had the tattoo, or cutie mark, of a pencil and paper. As far as I could tell, the rest of my body was dark gray, and I had no wings or horn. I really didn't care for how I looked, I could do it later. Looking around me, I was near Fluttershy's cottage on a sunny day, but there was something off.

There was no animals in sight. Bird houses, trees, a river, and holes were all there, but no animals at all.

I was very puzzled by this. I tried to move, but it took me a bit to get used to walking with 4 legs. After that moment, I entered the cottage, only to find furniture, food, and stairs, but no one was there. I quickly searched the house, in terror Fluttershy got hurt, or that something else happened, but it was just abandoned...

I ended up looking for Ponyville, maybe they just went to party, but after my search, I found no pony. All the houses were abandoned, with furniture, food, maybe a second story, along with personal objects, but I couldn't find a pony anywhere. The tree library was filled with books and all, but neither Spike nor Twilight was there. Sugarcube corner was also empty, along with Carousel Boutique. I didn't understand, why was everypony gone?

I gave up on searching, and decided to rest for a bit. Maybe this was just a nightmare, and I needed to get out of it. While I walked towards the library, I felt some presence. But no matter how many times I looked behind me, it was just the grey road and houses lined up. I didn't understand why I felt it, I just did. After getting to the library, I slept on Twilight's bed, with the soft blue star sheets over me.

Waking up, I still didn't feel different. My pony form was still there, along with the bed and library. I was a bit hungry, but a few sweets from Sugarcube Corner took care of that. I searched again this day, but in Sweet Apple Acres. Nopony was there, but there was farm equipment and all, along with fields of apple trees, which I picked in case I got hungry again. While doing so, I realized that the day changed to night. I thought to myself, "Maybe Celestia and Luna are in Canterlot!" While thinking, I ran back to the library to get my rest.

The next day, I had to prepare to travel to Canterlot. taking about a week's worth of food, water, and a sleeping bag I found for the trip to Canterlot. As the majestic city rests as the side of the mountain, I started moving towards my goal. It was hard to get there, considering the fact I was stupid enough not to bring any navigation equipment, or ANY equipment what so ever, so it ended up taking 5 days from my life. Yet, I noticed something during my trip. No animals ever come outside, day or night, not even when I slept. As I got to the towering city, I realized another thing.

Not a single pony was there.

I was desperate to find somepony, and I ran all the way to the castle, and it was turning into night, so I ran as hard as I could. However, when I opened the huge doors to the throne majestic room, Celestia nor Luna was there. I laid down in failure, weeping, as there was no pony anywhere. I rested in a royal bed that night, and scavenged for supplies on my trip back.

Time seemed to be a blur. I went back to Ponyville, and tried to piece together why everyone disappeared, and how the weather is even working. Nothing I found ever suggested why the place is empty, or how the sun and moon are being raised. I gave up on my search a month later, and instead put up a sign on top of the library to call for anypony that comes by while I'm gone. During the isolation, I read books, explore houses or new areas, even make statues of the citizens. I started with Twilight first, in honor of her being the owner of the library. Then AJ, Rarity, and so on. It seemed years passed, as 6 statues are in the front of the library, being the Mane 6 in beautiful color and shape, along with the others lined up in town, as my artistic visions always help. I sometimes searched for new areas, hoping for other lifeforms, but there were none.

I lost it. I didn't understand, why was everypony gone? was there a virus, a disease? Or did something come to kill them all, and I'm the only one left? I didn't get it at all. I sometimes talked to the statues, sometimes I write fanfiction, or I just burned a few houses, hoping for somepony to come, but there wasn't any. No matter how hard I tried, making myself not insane, it wouldn't work. Why was there a presence with me all the time? Why am I starting to hear voices in my head? Just make it stop, please! Reading books don't help, not with all the voices, the food supply is running low, and I am losing patience. "Please, Somepony, Anypony, Can you hear me?!? I'm not insane! I just wants somepony to be with!"

I tried to stop from doing one idea, and thought, "What if I just reacted the events of MLP? would that help me?" I ended up going with it, but I regretted it after I was done. I started from the beginning, setting up pieces and ropes and design to move the statues, and it took me a lot of time. I had everything set up for the first episode, and started it up. After the end, I realized no matter how hard I try, they wouldn't come to life. I even tried looking in books, but without a horn, I couldn't do it. I was stuck in isolation, with the silence of the world staring at me....

Two days later, I decided to do something. I traveled to Canterlot, and try to judge the best place, and the possibilities. While that, I wrote a note, to be placed on the floor of the throne room.

To anypony who finds this, I am already dead. My name was Joshua Manuel, and there was no pony to find around here, and I tried to live as long as possible. However, I couldn't do much, as I craved for someone to talk with, but there were no pony to do so. This is my final mark on the earth, and I wish that things could have gone better.

Then, I walked up to the edge of the cliff, and judged how I should jump. I decided headfirst, best case, I die quickly, worst case, I survive the fall and die a painful and slow way. We will have to see. I jumped off, and the wind went against my mane.

Well now...
That happened, I suppose.
I like this. It's a good "twist" on the standard HiE formula, and a creative one at that. On thing I noticed though, is that not once is silence mentioned. A world devoid of all life would be VERY quiet.
Maddeningly so...

Unfortunately I'm on my my phone so I can't point out the typos, but I will say despite the intriguing concept, the story is blindingly fast and resolves oddly and abrupty. Despite this, I'll still drop the like and fave (because I fave every story I like). Maybe you could expand this more as a prequel/sequel? I'd be interested to see where it would go.

I think it would be great if you made a sequel with a pegasister or a brony that comes in multiple chapters. Maybe the person in this sequel is going to kill themselves when they find the dead brony-turned-pony and his suicide letter and they decide that they don't want to meet such a terrible fate so they end up traveling all around trying to find answers. Along the way they might find others in the same or similar situation who become their friends. Its just an idea. I would make this sequel myself but I've never written any sort of story so my version would be terrible.

Start a new line for every new speaker, and since this is the only time he speaks, he's a new speaker. Also, wants should be want.
