FrostbiteMoon

New here! Just getting the hang on things!

T

After being imprisoned on the Moon for 1,000 years Nightmare Moon has returned. Twilight and her friends went to stop the Nightmare Pony, but only to have their plan fall flat. The Elements didn't work and now Nightmare Moon is in a constant struggle with her sister, Celestia causing a rift among ponies. There are now ponies who follow and serve Nightmare Moon, among them being a pony called Scimitar. She serves Luna closely, as a guard, and as a friend. A war is raging on and Scimitar must do what she can to protect her precious Princess of the Moon, even if it costs her life.

She continued to rule the night and protect all of her subjects

Nightmare Moon wasn't interested in protecting anybody.

there was the problem with her sister, Celestia

Have you seen the flashback to their battle? Celestia wasn't the problem.

Twilight and her friends failed to stop Nightmare Moon.

Why? How? Some background would be nice.

Now Nightmare Moon and her sister constantly fight for their control of Equestria.

Never mind the fact that Nightmare Moon imprisoned and/or banished Celestia right after she returned. I mean, you did notice that Celestia was missing during all but the last bit of the two-parter that launched the series, right?

“Ah yes, thank you Gold Pearl,” Nightmare Moon gave a toothy smile

At what point did you get the impression that Nightmare Moon was at all a kind entity?

"Call me Luna.” Nightmare Moon said with a pleasant smile

As for the "pleasant smile", see above. And the comics have pretty well established what Lauren herself stated -- that Nightmare Moon and Luna were not, in fact, the same being.

I'm sorry, but even with the AU tag, this story isn't making any sense.

4993491 My fan fiction, my interpretation of it.

There's having a different interpretation, and then there is forcibly cramming your nonsensical headcanons in utter disregard to the actual canon directly telling you you're wrong as well as simple logic. We now have seen the fall of Luna in person. We know Celestia was justified. We can even infer that Luna was possessed by a spirit beyond her control. To state otherwise would mean canon is inherently wrong, and that just isn't going to happen unless you can seriously back up your claims with theses upon theses of evidence as to why it is more logical. Or if you're M. A. Larson.

4994689 Let's also add that, if you accept the IDW comics as canon, we've seen what the Nightmare is and does. This shits on that as well as show canon.

Exactly! Even the dubiously canon material doesn't agree with this bullshit AU.
