spike and twilight sparkle
It took twilight many years to find her beloved dragon spike. But when she did he refused to speak to her so she left. But fearing of returning home alone she turned back and went to try and get beloved friend to come back home. After days of begging, spike finally agreed to come back with her. As they begin there long journey back to ponyville he asked her how rarity was. Quietly she told him that she had passed away many years back along with the rest of their friends. When they returned home he asked to see her grave, so twilight took him to the hill where they all were buried. Sanded by the scene of all her friends in the ground and the fact that this was how close they would all ever began she began. To cry, spike being heartbroken began to cry with her.
As the years went by the young dragon began to mature into a full grown dragon. Knowing he would know longer be able to stay with his life long friend he left when she was sleeping. When she woke up seeing her friend gone twilight began to search for him afraid to be alone. But when she found him he was fully grown into a dragon. As she got closer to him she saw him destroying a small town, she approached him trying to calm him down as she had once before a long time ago. Enraged, the dragon smacked twilight into a nearby rock. Slowly gaining consciousness she new the only way to stop her last friend was with a powerful spell even dragons cannot escape, the spell of death. With one final command she put a death spell on her dragon. As he fell to the ground he slowly turned back into the loving dragon she once knew. As she held him in her arms he apologized for everything and laid down to rest. So with a heavy heart she brought her friend to the hill and buried him alongside the others.
Many, many years after spike died twilight to died of a broken heart and loneliness. But once she reached pony heaven she saw all of her friends standing and smiling looking like they had in their glory days. Rainbow dash motioned for her to gone them. Happily she walked to her here friends and there open arms knowing that here she would never lose anyone. And as they walked to their new home twilight turned around and looked back at the hill where all seven of them were buried. With tears in her eyes she turned around and with her friends walked through the gates to her new home where death would never separate them again.

Damn, these ponies know when they are going to die. It's almost like they took turns committing seppuku. Also I don't think you can die of a broken heart, unless it was actually broken. Especially for an immortal alicorn.

Oh, and I read this while listening to Lullaby by Nickelback and I just finished watching Saving Private Ryan. Besides the occasional misspelling or grammar mistake, the story was decent. Not completely sure if it was the fic though, or just the combination of Lullaby/Private Ryan.
Has potential, but that's about it.
