Filthy Rich is the owner of Rich's Barnyard Bargains. A leading retailer of Ponyville and the countryside beyond, how does this small town company beat it's competition and stay number one?

Not by fair play, that's for sure.

Right, so I decided to continue this story! Expect more chapters in the future. I really dont have anything better to do right now, so I might push out chapters relatively quick. I'm expecting my creativity (and time) to slowly decrease by summer so I'll try and do my best continuing the story quick rather than making you wait the whole summer. Hope I can keep the ride enjoyable the whole way!

i have to wonder, how does one sustain dirty work in equestria? more than likely Celestia would have low tolerance for it.......... and her long life would give her insight and ideas of whta to do about it.

Well, as we've seen in the show, Celestia hardly ever does anything herself and rather sits atop her throne in Canterlot, doing princess... Things. The dirty work is therefore sustained by subtleness and corruption of the police or what have you on the countryside.

Imagine this all happening in the background of a MLP episode. Everyone but the ponies part of the story are blissfully unaware or bribed to keep their mouths shut :moustache:
(Not to mention no-one probably even expects it in the peaceful utopia that is Equestria.)

4390234 ..............you really lack imagination you know.
let us take into account that she FAR from does that. we cannot constantly see her at work keeping her government running now can we? the comics, which are both canon and are used to expand material, shows that Celestia takes an immensely active role in ruling. albeit we see it through a sleep deprived Luna struggling through the day, because she claimed the day was easier to handle than the night.
if we expand the scope to the likelyhoo of criminals and corrupt politicians, we must expand what Celestia does as well. besides, considering she intentionally sabotaged the Gala and used said saboteurs to prepare for her niece's wedding, i always got the feeling she does not quite like her politicians. not saying she stops everything, but i would think that the term would change from 'Hiding under her nose' to 'Hiding from her sight, cause the moment she notices somethgin wrong she iwll pounce.' pretty fitting when she likely gives herself enough political strength ot use her ACTUAL power to crush any corruption that is getting out of hand.

Aka, your view on Celestia is immensely innaccurate and has been disproven by canon materials to the show. she might set aside time for twilight, but she is far from sitting on her flanks. this is an actual nation, and she takes direct role in its giong ons.

also Luna defends the night from darkly creatures. likely we can expand that to monitoring criminal activity as well.

Well, then. Such an aggressive attack upon my view of a cartoon character in my fanfic.
I've read fanfics where Celestia is an omniscient defender of all Equestria. I've read fics like Immortal Game where she plays the namesake with other godlike creatures.
I've also read fics where she is shot down with a single bullet and I've seen an episode where an enemy that didn't even believe in her power struck her down.

She is not, in my view, a godlike tyrant that purges crime by the droves. She didn't go and save Rarity from the Diamond Dogs who, by all means, probably have also slaved other ponies and do other morally questionable things. I won't say she won't send her Royal Guard after crimedoers, they likely will appear in this fic, but I will not write her as someone who just shows up, makes everything good, and goes back to her throne. It's a battle of law and crime, not a god and her subjects.

4390324 ....... sorry if i came off as aggressive. and i already said she probably does not get it ALL, but your story and belief seems to stem from the idea she does nothing at all and jsut sits on her rump. evidence suggests otherwise. at the very least she is a threat enough and efficient enough that the criminal elements keep way on the down low. and i am mainly talking about more organized crime, like what is going on here.

every fic that depicts the regal sisters dying so easily share one thing in common; contrived forced plot points and a lazy method of getting rid of them.

also why does everone try to use chrysalis as an example? she is NOT a good example. when the villain herself admits she lucked out against celestia, then you know that her normal power is no match.

Ah, well. My point is, having the royal sisters act against crime too swiftly would make the entire story pointless. No ordinary criminal, or even a whole organization, can do anything against their godlike power. Therefore, I will abstain from using them too much in this story. I agree that, by all means, they DO have the power to do so, but I can't use them or it will cut the story short.

Maybe they are focused on the crime in the big cities (Stalliongrad, Manehatten, Canterlot) rather than Ponyville and the countryside. Maybe they're focused on supernatural threats (Everfree Forest, villains, etc). Maybe they just don't know because by all means, Ponyville seems too peaceful for organized crime, and the Rich family can stay as the number one through reputation only (Because their trading basically built Ponyville.)

Hope you can enjoy the fic even if I somewhat have to work around the fact Equestria is ruled by two gods. If nothing else, it's still a fanfic - so it's not canon and doesn't have to be taken too seriously. (By the way, I read your blog post about Diamond Dogs. They'll show up here later on c;)

You have a great story going here. I hope to see more soon.

- her daughter deserved only the best.

Aside from calling Filthy a mare at that point, mistakes happen, rest is pretty solid.

4392059 Ah, thanks for pointing that out. Ain't the best at proofreading.
Glad you enjoy the story!

Making some edits, I think. I prefer calling Filthy Rich "Filthy" in the narrative, as it just feels better when reading. Still Mr. Rich in dialogue, of course - it's not like he's Pinkie and can hear the narrative, after all.

EDIT: Not going to update this weekend! Not home so no time to write. I'll try and sketch up the next chapter so I can write it when I get back. (Maybe even two?)

Hope you continue it, the storie looks promising
