Adagio Dazzle, brilliant classical musician and composer, has just lost the battle of the bands at Canterlot High after being betrayed by her best friend Octavia. She gives Octavia one chance to explain herself, but may end up learning--and revealing--far more than she had bargained for.
(Backstory: "Adagio Dazzle" appears to be the name of a new character in Equestria Girls: Rainbow Rocks. All we know about her at this time is her name, though the "Dazzle" part is probably exclusive to the toyline. Even her being female is just a guess. I decided to take a chance and make a whole bunch of undoubtedly incorrect predictions about the plot of Rainbow Rocks, as part of a shameless attempt at creating the very first Adagio fanfic.)

I bet Adagio Dazzle is going to be the Flash Sentry of Rainbow Rocks. I'm hoping that's not the case, but I've got a bad feeling that says otherwise.
I'm sad that nothing in the movie will probably even approach this quality. This is really sweet and the sort of thing Ponies should be about. To pick out a specific thing to compliment, I particularly enjoyed how well the exposition was worked in and all of Adagio's history that led her to this point. It's kind of impressive how quickly you were able to build investment in her starting from nothing, even despite the story sort of beginning after the climax.
(Is Twilight actually going to be in the sequel though? They're not seriously doing that, are they?)
Also, y'know, for someone who allegedly doesn't even care for Tavi/Vinyl, you really are the best at it.

The setting definitely required a whole lot of building backwards, explaining what had happened without being too obvious about it--it helps that we all know roughly how a "battle of the bands" plot works, so we can fill in most of the details without even being prompted--but it was fun.
(Twilight: Maaaaaybe? She's on the book cover, which is probably a somewhat more reliable source than the dolls. But we really know very little right now. Some things I was willing to commit to guessing, like Twilight's presence; others, like which side Sunset would be on, I stayed agnostic.)

Perhaps focusing on Pixel Pizazz and Violet Blurr would have been safer, but then Adagio's was the first name we got. Heck, I think I may have been taking a stand at this point even by guessing that Adagio Dazzle and Vinyl Scratch weren't the same person.

In fact, I myself have yet to see Rainbow Rocks, but am already writing a short piece about Trixie and Adagio loosely based on the cafeteria clip.

Taking a stand... eh, technically. EQD thought they were the same person, but EQD is generally nonsense anyway, so I don't know if that meant that anybody else did.
