I'm a shitty writer, and I deserve all these negative comments and feedback for having the balls to upload this shit I called a story. I can at least thank you for being a bit nicer about it than some others were. But I get the point. I ws an idiot for posting this, and for expecting positive feedback. I'll go back to.. well, not writing. I only wrote to entertain others, because I thought that if other people actually LIKED what I wrote, I'd be worth something. Now I can see that even if my story hadn't been complete shit, i'd still be worthless in ecery way imaginable. What if I told you this story is literally the ONLY thing going on in my life right now, and that I was actually proud of this garbage? It was unearned, undeserved pride, and you are not in the wrong for taking it away from me. If this was my first story ever, I can see how this might be acceptable, but I've written before. I'm not mad at you, I'm pissed off at everyone that lied to me by telling me my stories were worth reading. They could have just said I fucking sucked before I went and posted it online for a million hearless strangers to see, it probably would have been easier that way. 2620400 I merely asked because if you were referring to disabilities like high-functioning autism, then I would have had to disagree. I, myself, have high-functioning autism and most of my stories (that weren't total trollfics) have been very well received, so autism couldn't be used as an excuse.
If this person has dyslexia, then yes, that can make spelling and grammatical errors harder to correct. However, TheSuperpony's (who I assume you're referring to as Mr. Noob) review had nothing to do with that.
Many stories can have bad grammar and literacy, but as long as the story itself is good, it will be well received. I've seen plenty of stories on this site with bad literacy get featured on this site. However, without a good story to tell or if that story is told poorly, you're dead in the water.
There's only so much an editor can fix and revise, but in terms of story, that's something that can only be fixed by the author and the author alone. And writing is a lot more than just putting words to paper or document. It's about blending words to create a world in which the reader can inhabit. And of course, the world we inhabit should feel as real as the world we live in now so it gives the reader something to relate to.
When characters (both original and canon) don't act like people normally would, then it creates bad vibes, along with not showing us the struggles and feelings of these characters and merely just going through the motions is boring. I guarantee you its these reasons (like TheSuperpony said) that this story is getting disliked. That's not something that dyslexia should be held accountable for.
I'm not making fun of anyone, but there are people who are cut for writing and those that aren't. Those that aren't are free to rise above their current state and become good, even great writers through the process. Of course, there are others that aren't that will fold under the smallest form of negative criticism, but that's their prerogative.
Just know that when someone posts a story on this website, it becomes fair game to those who read it and then eventually review it, and a lot of us have very high standards on this site. FIMFiction is not a "pat-on-the-back" kind of website; it's one where people are trying to continually trying to improve their craft and help others improve their craft, all in their own ways.
If TheFluttershyeffect falls (like all authors do or have done) and doesn't want to get back up, that's not our fault. He (or she) has the strength to get back up (just like the rest of us), and we're offering our hands to him/her. Don't lash at us because she won't accept the help.
