The story of Rarity and Pinkie Pie's journey back to Dodge Junction, and how it strengthened their friendship.

Twilight has no idea why she’s in outer space. She would very much rather not be there. In fact, it would be swell if somepony, anypony, would heeelp!

Good thing Pinkie Pie’s on the job. Wait. Pinkie Pie? She’s doomed, isn’t she?

There are a thousand reasons for not making a purchase at the Carousel Boutique. Some of them are legitimate. Many are excuses. The majority are lies. Falsehoods which Rarity has been listening to for years now, without the slightest touch of variety in the performances. Lies which, during the first week of Ponyville's summer tourist season. have escalated to the point where it feels like they're the only words being said at all.

So if nopony is going to buy anything no matter what Rarity does -- why not call them out on a few? Surely that couldn't do any harm, at least not more than what's already been done?

Surely...

After learning that it is the anniversary of the death of Applejack's father, Pinkie Pie decides to throw her friend a party to cheer her up.

Too bad Applejack has no clue what's going on.

A simple afternoon spent modifying a dress at Carousel Boutique leads to two ponies accidentally discovering that they have more in common than was once believed.

Rarity believes she has lost what could very well be a winning lottery ticket.

Pinkie Pie offers to help her find it.

This can only end well.

As far as amenities go, most of what the Manehattan Fashion Moon trade show offers to first-time booth operators is 'the honor of attending'. It means Rarity is expected to pay for her cart's storage, along with just finding a place to put it. But with Pinkie along for the trip, at least there's somepony to speak with during the endless Moon-watched circuits of the structure. Two mares desperately searching for an empty space, with nothing to do but think.

It's easy to think, when all you can really do is trot and talk. The hard part is figuring out how to stop.

Late on Nightmare Night, after the rest of Ponyville has gone to bed, Pinkie Pie descends into the dark and silent basement of Carousel Boutique. She’s determined to make things better with Rarity after a friendship-splintering fight, but there might not be a solution for the troubles she finds once inside the house. Didn’t anypony tell her it’s not safe to venture out alone at night?
