Double Diamond has always been the right hoof of Starlight Glimmer, a cruel dictator obsessed with the idea of radical equality. He meekly shared all her ideas and followed all her orders. What was behind this blind devotion all this time? Will he now be able to reject old ideals and get used to a new life in the village in order to become a good mayor for its citizens? Will he dare to reveal to everyone the most important secret of Starlight? Will the other ponies forgive him, and most importantly, will he forgive himself?

He was at the head of a mighty host, sergeant in a great army of the voiceless 200 strong and growing. As they marched from Our Town in the northeast down towards the capitol, their numbers swelled, seeming to double with every three towns they passed through. The air in their camps was electric, brimming with promise, with hope, the hope that the revolution might succeed. All was going so well, he couldn't help but grin.

But it was still his fake grin, the one he wore to try to cover up the screams whirling around inside him. And as they settle down for the evening, preparing for the last leg of the journey, he desperately tries to stop them from escaping, from giving voice to his hidden fears.

But in the darkness of the night, however much of a sergeant he might be in the daytime, Party Favor is still the boy who cried himself to bed with laughter, and the fears he tried to leave behind are not done with him yet.

Double Diamond is convinced he and Starlight had a thing going on, unbeknownst to everyone else while she led their town. He can’t rationalize why she chose Sunburst and forgot all about the bond they had shared. He tries to move on but his feelings keep making him miserable the more he tries to secretly hide and kill them for the sake of the couple.

Title based off the episode “Uncommon Bond”.

This story is a sequel to The Return of Daybreaker

After Princess Luna allows Starlight to live in Ponyville, she needs to go to her Canterlot home and pick up her things to bring to her new home in Ponyville. After she does this, she reviews old friends to tell about her first adventure with her new friends and tells them that she will start living in Ponyville.

A Swapverse history

Twilight and Starlight try to get Trixie to make a friend. It doesn't go very well. Then Sunset and Party Favor hang out for a few paragraphs, and then Twilight and Rarity gossip about Suri Polomare. These three scenes aren't particularly connected.

Starlight Glimmer is filled with guilt for all the things she did at her old town. She also is wondering why Twilight Sparkle, the Princess of Friendship, is giving her a second chance after all the misery Starlight caused. Twilight and Starlight take the train right after Starlight becomes Twilight's apprentice of friendship.

This takes place during the song, Friends Are Always There For You, in the last episode of Season 5. There is a brief scene where Starlight returns with Twilight to the town Starlight had left at the beginning of the season. I know Starlight returns later in a different episode, but I wanted to write a short little story showing what Starlight might be thinking after her whole ordeal.

While exploring a ruined castle somewhere in the Everfree Forest, Party Favor was attacked by a ferocious beast. Even though he manages to fight back, he starts growing more fur and behaving like a dog.
