Skeeter the Lurker created a contest recently, the premise of which is "take an episode, keep the moral, switch out the main character(s)". It wrapped up earlier this week, and I've taken some time to read the seven entries, because seven entries. :V Of course, I also haven't posted recently, so have some news before I get to the reviews:
I wanted to offer Writeoff Association-style reviews of the other six entrants in Skeeter the Lurker's "Switcheroo" contest, analyzing the stories with one eye toward how much I enjoyed reading them and the other eye toward how they could be improved. I'm assigning
So I entered a sort of contest, more a secret-Santa ficwriting challenge- each entrant got assigned another one randomly and told to write a sequel or a story in the same setting as one of the target writer's works.
I got my assignment, read her two stories, and didn't really see a way to follow up, so I back-burnered the project and focused on other things.
And then today I noticed that I'd missed the deadline for the challenged by one day.
So I was going to link to a clip of an old Transformers character going "And awaaaay we go!" as his catchphrase, but that's not on youtube. So here, have this nonsense instead.
Been a while since I've done one of these, huh? I hope this even posts, Skype just committed suicide on me and my internet is being really wonky right now.
Anyway, here is a little bit from Alicorn Switcheroo, Chapter 5. As always, this is unedited stuff that may or may not make the final cut. But I figured it would be a good time to show that I actually AM working on my older projects and pushing for completion.
My buddy Skeeter the Lurker approached me a while back about a contest he's hosting, wondering if I would like to be one of the judges for it. I thought the concept was super interesting, so I gladly agreed.

With Aragon’s Comedy Contest done, I figured I’d run one of my own. All the cool kids are doing it these days, right? Buuut, seeing as of how I don’t have much to foist on people for prizes, I went for a different tack!
We return to the Berrow catalogue this week, and it’s AJ’s turn in the saddle. … I’m going to think about the implications of that idiom with ponies later. For now, let’s see what this book has in store.
Amid the time spent with family and relaxing by the ocean and/or pool, I found a moment to work some more on Chapter 5 of Alicorn Switcheroo. I've honestly had time to work on it and others, but I've been taking as much time to just relax as I can. I HAVE started on a thing related to the new EQG movie that premiers tomorrow, but who knows when that might be done. However, I have also worked on a few of my fics and AS was top of the list.
Alas, my dear readers, I must confess to weakness! For my parents did contact me a few days ago and bribed me into a visit with plans for a fishing trip, which I've been wanting to be apart of for some time. This means I'll be heading home tomorrow after I finish my literary duties. Those of you who know me on Skype are aware that this means infrequent appearances and less socializing due to a satellite-based internet that is woefully lacking and the added distraction of being with
