I'm working on a State of the Horizon post, but in the meantime, a few quick con-related things:
No "Human After All?" I know, boo. But new Turing Test one-shot story? Hopefully yay!
I spent pretty much all of Sunday reading Scribblefest entries, and this is going to be the last Scribblefest-centric review post. On the whole, the finalists had a number of very decent stories, and while I didn’t end up writing a review of every story, I did manage to write reviews for a good number of them.
As always, note that I am but one of nine Scribblefest judges, so my word is not the last one on these.
Today’s stories:
Pegasus by Grand_Moff_Pony
Do you like race cars? And do you like weatherponies?
Than you’ll love AlwaysDressesInStyle’s newest entry into my not-a-contest, Days Without Thunder.
While I was working on some new reviews, I went through my old files and realized I’d started a bunch of review sets that I’d never finished. These were all destined for various different review sets, but I never ended up publishing any of them because they were all in sets of 1-3 stories. I wrote some of these as far back as 2018.
But hey, better late than never, right?
Today’s stories:
Bangception by Estee
Now Hiring by Miss-Cyan
I wrote a piece of original fiction over the weekend – the first such piece I’ve written since late 2013. I had some fun writing it, and I think I shall be doing more of it and see how it goes.
But don’t think that means I’m giving up on ponies. Original fiction is business. Ponies? Are fun.
Speaking of fun, I reviewed five more stories, including one that really impressed me.
Today’s stories:
Rarity’s Rodeo by Somber
Dangerous by totallynotabrony
Per usual I stole this writing meme from Ice Star because I don't follow nearly enough people here.
1. Tell us about your current project(s) – what’s it about, how’s progress, what do you love most about it?
Current active project is a Jinglemas entry I can say nothing about. But of course I'm sure we mean the likes of my chaptered stories.
Shows up Sleep Deprived, Over caffeinated, over stressed, and a year late
What's up bitches, I brought HORSEWORDS. 13.5k of them, pre-editing to be exact
Speak chapter 22 is going off to Bro and RoMS. All 3 of us are presently gestures towards her opening line of this blog, so it may be a bit, but hopefully by mid April I can get it out to you all!
I opened the site this afternoon and found this, I never understood if it's actually 'featured' or 'popular', or if both are the same. But anyways, thank you for the support
Writing is one of the only things that make feel better and productive, so seeing that at least I'm getting some kind of positive feedback cheers me up a bit.
I hope you're all having a wonderful Christmas today!
Here's a few songs for the season:
Antifa, Antiracist, Woke, SJW, BLM, ACAB, White, Liberal, Democrat, Twitter Trash Mantra.
Do you have the time to listen to me whine about nothing and everything all at once?
Once again, there’s enough G5 material in the hopper for two weeks of contemporary card blogs. Let’s begin with the Tell Your Tale backlog. Rest assured that I’ll have plenty to say about the comics next week.
Grading Scale:
A (fantastic episode)
A- (an excellent episode with at least one flaw)
B+ (a great episode with a couple of flaws)
So, this is a rather interesting circumstance. My math on Tell Your Tale releases was off, and I can (and will) in fact do the penultimate TYT blog this week…but there’s a catch.
