Greetings, everyone! This is Mr. J back with a holiday special to review for tonight! I will be reviewing the Valentine’s Day special short film entitled: Madly Madagascar. Taking place after the events of Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, King Julien gets a love potion that accidentally fell from a plane and decides to use it as a way to gain the attention of the African animals, scamming them into a love fest. Additionally, as it is Alex’s favorite holiday, he intends to write Valentine’s Day cards for his friends while Marty is wooed by an Okapi and wants to win her affections. Melman attempts to prepare something to celebrate his love for Gloria whereas Skipper has his own weird doll attraction going haywire.

Yeah, this special definitely isn’t perfect although I will admit it was quite a fun experience watching it. Even though it is nowhere as fun as Merry Madagascar, I still enjoyed what they provided for this special. It basically re-enforces the lesson that artificial love isn’t true love especially if it’s from a potion but rather love that you can find within family or friendship circles is what counts. Plus, love must flow naturally between couples in a romantic relationship so it doesn’t come forced. This is what I got from this short film, and the moral was pretty much straightforward.

The voice acting was still top-notch thanks to the vocal performances of Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, Jada Pinkett Smith, and David Schwimmer. Danny Jacobs still did a great job as King Julien like before, and the same goes for Tom McGrath as Skipper.

The only thing I didn’t like about this was the wacky humor that just didn’t sit well with me. I mean, there were a few jokes that were a little funny but the rest of it felt flatly executed which resulted in being awkward and unfunny. Most of that had to do with Julien as he was a little too irritating in this. Maybe that’s just me, but nonetheless, Danny Jacobs didn’t lose his touch.

Overall, this was a flawed but entertaining holiday special. I’m not a huge fan of Valentine’s Day admittedly, but I wish you all a happy belated Valentine’s Day...or Night...whatever. This gets a solid B.

Peace.

This is the only Madagascar special I haven't seen yet, but I'm interested in checking it out regardless.

Also, this is only out of curiosity, but how's it coming with reviewing "All Hail King Julien"?

That will be dealt with later on in the year since I have a lot of other things to review.

I understand. A lot of times I'd save reviewing something for later due to my interest in analyzing other things more.
