If you're following me, you may already know about the minific collection I curate titled Never The Final Word: stories — both my own and others' — which were originally posted as comments to other fanfics, designed to reinterpret or extend the source story. If you've been curious about the collection, but have been waiting for a good starting point to jump in at, then yesterday it just got doubly easier!
Content Advisory: Contains unmarked spoilers for The Ponies in the Caves.
I emerge from my coronavirus bunker to discover half the site on fire and a wolf chasing a drunk Catholic. All we need is Knighty to do another UI update or fully implement Genfic (is that even still a thing?) and the 2020 shitstorm can really get rolling in.
Just thought I'd drop a link to StraightToThePointStudio's reading of the first scene of chapter 2 of DayBreak, where Luna and Twilight speak with Care about the attack on Celestia.
A little voice acting, a little ambient music, a little taste of DayBreak from a different perspective. Or medium.
I wanted to let you guys know that my reading of Swimming Lessons, chapter 2 and the epilogue, will be made public on my YouTube channel this week. To be specific, the video for chapter 2 will go public on Thursday, 08/17/23, at 9 AM Eastern, while the epilogue will go up on Saturday, 08/19/23, at 9 AM Eastern.
Point is, Scribbler has a creepy stalker, stalker managed to trick Youtube into giving them Scribbler's personal info, and is now using that personal info to impersonate Scribbler to file fake copyright takedown requests in order to destroy her channel and reputation, the former of which is now under threat of being deleted by Youtube for false copyright claims.
(First things first: If you'd like a little mental exercise this weekend, Prawo Jazdy posted some nifty episode-name-based brainteasers. Click through and engage your puzzle gears!)
While I was going crazy putting together an entry for this weekend's Writeoff Association competition (check out the 36 submitted stories here! There's currently a preliminary round, and voting on the finalists will be open to the public next week), another brony was out there doing something y'all should appreciate!
I humbly present my Halloween 2018 full cast fanfic reading special.
Prince Blueblood has an inherent love for the orchestra, but he does not care to attend the symphony. He would much rather have ... private performances. And if his pet musicians won't perform for him? Well then, that just means they need to be punished, doesn't it?
Join me today at 10pm BST for the premiere of this one-off charity audio drama!
Midnight29 was cool enough to do a reading of The Stars Ascendant today. Thanks, Midnight!
For those of you who haven't been stalking me since 2014, The Stars Ascendant was my first super-popular story:
Can this one be called a fandom classic? It is to me, at least. This is one of the very first fics I ever desperately wanted to do a reading of. Many thanks to FinishLine for convincing HrothgarsOwn to narrate and to Doctor Cobra for his inimitable role as Discord.
I forget how I came across this story. Fic recs? Possibly. It was earlier this year, when someone close to me passed away, and I dove into pony to find some sort of comfort in the midst of things. Somwhere along the line, I found this fic, and, me being the odd, macabre duck I am, it helped.
It has a sad start, to be sure, but it felt right for the season. Why probably won't be clear until after the new year ;3.
Here's chapter 1.
The video has gone public, so here’s the link: https://youtu.be/KtT2xGXh8pQ
I don’t mind comments here, but please remember to leave feedback of any kind (comments, likes, etc) on the video itself. While I do want feedback in general, since I want to be sure I’m doing a good job, feedback on the video helps to combat Ye Olde YouTube Algorithm Dragon.
First and primarily, there's a major collaborative writing/role-playing event in the works for Ponyville Ciderfest. See here for details. I've already signed on to provide some story snippets; it should be a lot of fun!
So Bradel and I drunkwrote a thing last night:
Snogmageddon
[Romance] [Random] [Comedy] [Teen] [Sex]
Here's something that might help you authors with your future writing projects — I discovered on Sunday that the back seat of a police cruiser is a LOT less comfortable than you'd assume.
