New story (and audio reading!): "Snogmageddon" · 12:57pm May 8th, 2016

So Bradel and I drunkwrote a thing last night:

Snogmageddon

[Romance] [Random] [Comedy] [Teen] [Sex]

The universe just doesn't want Trixie Lulamoon and Starlight Glimmer to kiss — partly because their ship name would be "Trimmer", but mostly because the story description box has prophecized that their forbidden love will break the seventh pony seal and unleash horrible tragedy upon the world. Can Twilight Sparkle resist her own romantic temptations long enough to stop them and save Equestria?

After we brought the story to a close, I stayed up until 5 AM, recording myself cold-reading the drunkwriting, and ... well ... it's a thing of beauty:

I was going to post the story to FIMFiction as well, but I realized a couple of things:

1) Half the fun of reading it is in seeing the trainwreck of the Google doc, complete with strikethroughs, commentary, drunken typos, and fourth-wall breaking — all of which would incite FIMFiction moderator wrath if faithfully carried over, seeing as how I've had stories fail moderation over footnote placement.

2) More importantly, my audio reading does the story more justice than a text version — especially an edited text version — would. In Bradel's words, "The moment when Trixie starts speaking in a Scottish accent is the moment where this reading turns from 'fun' to 'amazing'."

So if you're at all interested in this story — then click the video (or visit its Youtube page here) and give it a listen! You can skim through the original Google Doc here, as well, but as far as I'm concerned the audio version is the definitive, canonical Snogmageddon experience.

Plus, this way you can hear my voice.

I still dare you to turn it into a serious polished story. :pinkiehappy:

Yeah, I was thinking you should publish it, but had the same objections myself. :C Fimfiction, fun ruiner.

Parentheses parentheses CLAWWWWWW... fuck.

I am perfectly fine with letting this be the soundtrack for the rest of my night.

like there's some powerful force, drawing us together.

the shipping is strong with this one

So I haven't read this yet, (and I'm two weeks behind notifications so I'm late here too,) but I think you should publish the story on Fimfiction. It won't be as fun as it is in the Gdocs, semi-edited version, sure. And I know you want the story to be as fun as possible. But you know what you get if you remove all the 'fun because editing' parts? A story. A (presumably) entertaining and somewhat random story, one worth sharing. Publishing it on Fimfic will let more people read it, and if you link to the origional version and the reading, some people will use those first instead of reading the comparatively-lessened Fimfic version.

Just trying to look out for the little guy who has over 100 notifications backed up and could easily miss a blogpost-only story by one of their favorite authors. (Me.) :pinkiesad2:

Thanks for the encouragement. It's honestly not high on my priority list when I could be, say, working on Writeoff gold medalist Time Enough For Love instead, but heck, if you (or 3929537 or 3929549) enjoyed it enough to volunteer to hammer the prose into shape, I'd be happy to provide a editable copy of the doc.

Or maybe Bradel could be talked into cleaning it up! He hasn't published anything lately; it would get him back on the board. I'd totally >>tag him if he'd bothered to show up in this comment thread, but feel free to hassle him on my behalf if you talk to him before I next see him on chat. :duck:
