What rough equine, its hour come, slouches toward San Franciscolt, etc. · 10:04am Apr 6th, 2023

Geez, I haven't swung by FIMFiction in a dragon's age. But I've survived the pandemic (so far), I'm weathering California's increasingly insane and prolonged winter, and tomorrow I'm headed to Babscon! All expectations are for a weekend full of drunken pony Tarot reading, reconnecting with fellow authors, Klingon room parties, and a Wilderness First Aid recertification class that absolutely couldn't be rescheduled.

Who all is planning to show up, and what are your big convention plans? And for everyone too distant or too disinterested to enjoy this particular slice of the ever-shrinking pony convention scene, how have things been?

I might show up for Friday only. I can't believe Babscon has always been on Easter (and sometimes passover) weekend. I still can't figure out if that's a good or bad idea. Can't miss the klingon room!

I wish you a wonderful time and safe travels. Say hello to everyone for me! Hope you’ve been well.

it's really cool when you're not dead :D

Glad to hear you weathered the shenanigans of the past few years.

I'm so excited to learn you'll be there!

It makes our agreement to have you pick me up at the airport *so* much more convenient. For you.

Hope you have a great time!

P.S. check your PMs

You also haven't been on mastodon in a dragon's age! I followed two accounts of yours (I think they're both yours, anyways), and both have a "-" for last active.

I generally speaking don't really travel these days, so no conventions for me, I'm afraid. :unsuresweetie:

I'm still not braving the states yet but I hope you have a blast! Say hi to everyone for me n_n

It's actually only been a year or so since your last blog post... appropriately enough, also one saying you'd be at Babscon.

Where you kicking it these days? If you're still writing I'd be interested in reading

The Klingons are an institution. Definitely worth the experience.

I'll definitely pass along the well wishes!

I am also a fan of this state of affairs. :twilightsheepish:

Much more convenient for the airport, too, what with not having to divert the plane to my home.

I need to find some usable Mastodon clients, mainly. Had one on my phone that was janky and broken and gave up on it after struggling for a while. And probably need to dig up my login information again since I think my attempt at Masto predates me using my password manager.

I wish I could give you a link and tell you about all the exciting original fic I've been writing, but the truth is that the pandemic years hit me awful hard. :fluttershbad: I'm barely even on social media any more at this point.

At the moment I'm trying to get back on the horse by playing around with AI Dungeon -- I tested its limits by having it work with me to write a full-length novel, but honestly, it's not terribly worth reading; the AI has moments of odd brilliance but it has the attention span of a goldfish and I spend a lot of time just trying to curate its output to keep things on track.

My social and creative lifeline these days is tabletop gaming with a local friend group. There's an ensemble-cast superhero game that's been going on for a continuous 5+ years now and I've been stepping up to co-GM it. It did lead to one piece of pony-adjacent fiction, which hypothetically might benefit from some cleaning up and reposting, and there could certainly be more where that came from, but the fiction well has been awfully dry since then.

While I usually use it on a computer with the web interface, you could try Metatext or Toot! on iOS, or Tusky for Android.

IIRC, Metatext was the better choice on iPhones, but the developer is taking a break from working on it for health reasons. I don't know if it's improved, but the official Mastodon client was kinda the latecomer, and the worst of the bunch, IIRC.

And, yeah, login information could be fun to try and find. I think the login on awoo.space was probably the one you were using, and an older attempt on dragon.style? Worst comes to worst, you could always start a new account on another server, though. I do like equestria.social. Other possibilities include fandom.ink and meow.social. Mostly just make sure you don't choose a server a lot of other servers block, if you go that route...

I have been… failing to realize that my Fimfic session got logged out at some point and therefore I've been missing the entire feed!

… um.

Hi? :twilightblush:

Hi!

Haven't been missing much from me, I'm afraid. But you caught this one!

I check my feed once in a while, but clearly not often enough since I missed a Horizon sighting :ajsleepy:.

I’m entering an exciting and scary new phase with my current non-pony project, but that’s a story for elsewhere. I’ve been so wrapped up in this one that most of my other projects and interests have gone untouched for longer than I’d care to remember!

Glad to hear! About the project, I mean. As for the con, it passed by in kind of a blur - but see you again at Everfree!

I think things have been going pretty well, or at least alright, for me, thanks. :)
Though, uh, bit behind on blog posts here. :D

And yeah, Babscon is a bit far for me, but I enjoyed Ponyville Ciderfest last year and am looking forward to this year's!

Great to hear! I'm hoping I can do a little more traveling and hit some cons outside of the western US before the scene dries up entirely.
