DYK - A Haunting in Canterlot - Part 2 · 8:02pm May 22nd, 2018

I once learned that a movie is written three times: first during development, second during production, and third during editing. Though A Haunting in Canterlot isn't a film, it has been revised, edited, and rewritten many times. In this post, I will talk about some of the early outlines, characters, and everything in between.

DID YOU KNOW? · 4:55am Sep 9th, 2014

So I'm studying up on Early Modern English (not Old English, mind you) in preparation for a short essay on how to write Luna-speak. Fun fact I found: "derring-do" (the inspiration for Daring Do, if you didn't get that), which is a noun usually meaning "adventurous nonsense" in today's usage (as far as I can tell), started out as a verb phrase way back in the sixteenth century, "dorryng do," which literally means "daring to do," and implied manhood and chivalry ("Robin Hood's awesome. He's

Haha. I have another test tomorrow even though the term just started...

Random Fact: The Pentium 2 and early Pentium 3 models were based on a cartridge design to allow for external cache chips to be included at a cheaper manufacturing cost. However, later Pentium 3 chips came with cache integrated into the die instead of populating the surrounding board, as manufacturing technology had sufficiently improved to allow sufficient yields.

Fun facts about me and my stories · 2:08pm Feb 16th, 2018

1. I have written most of my stories on my phone. I rarely use the computer to do this, only the final spellchecking happens with a computer.
2. The name Shimmering Thunder came way before the story, The Power Within. I just couldn't come up with any other name, so I used this one.
3. Even though I wrote a coltcuddler story, I'm not a coltcuddler myself.
4. After two years plus, I'm still in the closet with these ponies. Nobody in real life knows about it.

These four stories have been dormant for a long time now.

Almost all of them haven't seen any updates in well over a year.

Ruins in particular is a story I gradually lost interest in writing alongside my fading interest in G5.

So, if you've been keeping up with the blog, you'd know that I tried installing the Windows 10 Creator's Update, only for it to fail spectacularly, taking out most of my computer's functionality with it.

BUT NOW...

Many hours, two failed backups, a long and tedious manual backup, and a system reset using the original install media later...

I LIVE! LIIIVEEE, I TELL YOU! :pinkiecrazy:

Tomorrow, I'm gonna have to reinstall quite a few lost programs though...
