As I was pondering the preponderance of saddlebags in the story, and having come up with the idea some time ago that everypony usually wore some small bag about their person to carry the rudiments of daily life that we would tuck away in pocket or purse(which, if you think about it, is a pocket you can take off at will.)

Obviously, CRISIS: Equestria was built on a simple concept: alternate, antithetical versions of the Mane Six pitted against the originals. But even besides that, the concept of alternate selves is a solid concept brought up in a lot of alternate universe stories. Usually, these alternate versions are pretty much the originals with a few small changes here and there that they're still fundamentally the original character.
Here's my take on the MLP timeline, or the beginning of it anyway. If I've missed anything confirmed in the show, I'll gladly add it. Do keep in mind the show contradicts itself quite frequently, notably when it comes to Star Swirl and the Princesses. Otherwise, if you have an interesting headcanon, please, do share it.

It is well known throughout folklore about Nymphs. Most ponies know that nymphs were the caretakers of nature. They were responsible for “crafting” (and taking care of) nature’s beauty (from the growth of plants/flowers/trees, to the care of the bodies of water.) Equestria before the three tribes (of early Equestrians) first set a hoof in Equestria.

The Hibiki clan maintain the traditions of the Oni, using their musical instruments to perform ceremonies and rituals. Many of them have also branched into other careers that involve music, such as composers, conductors, or even editors. Hibikis are VERY protective of their children, and will often go to some extreme lengths to protect them from a perceived threat.
As stated before, the Riders' legacies have heavily impacted the culture of this world. Industries and institutions are often named or dedicated to the Riders they'd most align with, and more often than not their families will work in those fields in some capacity.
So at this point in Dream Come True, I've stressed the importance of the amulet Sprocket wears, but haven't accurately explained what it is. I've seen people mistake it for a seventh element of harmony, but that's only sort of right. If you haven't read up to the current chapter and don't want spoilers, read no further.
