Vinyl Scratch. Octavia. Two great and famous musicians, what do they have in common?
Is that their love for music? Is that the love of fans they have? Or is that their memories?
This short story tells you the answer.
And at the same time it tells you about the most powerful feeling in the world.
The feeling powerful enough to eclipse the love itself.
And the feeling you shouldn't lose no matter what happens.

When Octavia sees Vinyl's affections towards a stallion, she can't bring herself to confess her feelings towards her childhood friend. Jealousy leads to an argument on Hearth's Warming Eve, and when Octavia is set to play music at the local play, she is shocked by a sad call from Vinyl. With someone close to her dying, Vinyl finally begins to question her life, and what she truly means to Octavia.

When Octavia and Vinyl Scratch are paired up to write a song to represent the school in eqestria's annuel music competion, both sides clash. Octavia wants something elegent and classical. Vinyl wants her crazy up beat wubs. The pair can't stop fighting with each other. But will this contest bring them closer? And maybe... just maybe help the two mares discover their true feelings for eachother?

How often do you fall in love with someone? Once a week? Twice maybe?

When you do, why did you fall in love with them? Was it because of the person's looks? Their personality, perhaps? The way they laugh when you tell them a funny joke? It could be anything, really.

For me, however, the reason why I fell in love with her is because of her music. The way she plays her musical instrument captivates me. Whenever I hear her play, it bounds me on the spot. She plays it with such feeling, with such strong emotions that you yourself can feel it.

There is more to her than just her music, too.

She plays the cello, by the way. Oh, and she's a pony.

This takes place on earth, ponies on earth, to be exact. Got the idea when watching the Piano Guys live. Hope you folks will enjoy this.

When Octavia and Vinyl Scratch decide to combine their respective musical styles into a new genre that will celebrate not only their talent, but also their unique bond, they feel confident that they're the pioneers of the new age. So when the two find their music challenged by another pair of musicians, they set out to make sure that theirs is the best. However, the rival two aren't bad artists themselves, not to mention they’re certainly not… of the same persuasion as Vinyl and Tavi. In the snow-wrapped streets of Manehattan, can they risk exposing their new found -and still taboo- relationship, or will they be doomed to second place?

Octavia and Vinyl Scratch have been friends ever since they were fillies. One is dealing with unrequited love, the other with new and confusing feelings. Can their love for music bring them love for each other?

Two ponies have know each other since they were fillies. Both did everything with each other, and others deemed them inseparable. When one develops feelings for the other, will this compromise their friendship?

On her way to Canterlot High for her music club, Octavia meets Vinyl Scratch and is annoyed by the music blasting from her headphones. After getting yelled at, Vinyl responds by making odd gestures with her hands. It turns out, Vinyl Scratch is deaf, and she feels music instead of listening to it. Feeling ashamed, Octavia wishes to make it up to her, but is surprised by Vinyl's request.

After long years of playing for royal festivities in Canterlot, Octavia's musical skills start to plummet. She still has the talent, but she has no motivation, or inspiration to move on any further with her career. After meeting another musically inclined pony, Octavia start's to feel her inspiration kicking in, and she starts to fully understand why it has.

On the other hoof, Vinyl Scratch discovers what the power of music can truly do, and how friendship can only go but so far before it turns into something much more.

My unicorn parents called me a worthless mud pony. They pushed me every day to overcome my lowly status. When I woke up one morning with my cutie mark, I thought they would love me. I couldn’t have been farther from the truth.

It was not destiny or enjoyment that led me to discover the cello and composing. My parents made that decision, deciding before I was born I would continue their family legacy of famous musicians.

They did not realize what that decision would cost them.
