What better way to spend a snowy day than making a carrot casserole and cinnamon applesauce cookies? When the pantry offers no applesauce, it’s up to one filly to make the journey through the snow to get it.

Mang Fermin, local Manila street vendor, has died in his sleep. Macario, one of his regular customers, now has to go to work without seeing him and taking a bite of his wares as is tradition. At least there's a new guy with his own food cart, though he's not exactly from around here....

The five-mile Mackinac Bridge, holding the two peninsulas of Michigan together, never ceases to amaze me. But after working as a maintenance crew member for many years, you never know what it’ll throw at you, especially when there’s something cuddled up inside.
