i was telling friends on a discord server about a telenovela AU bc i'm mexican so ofc id do a telenovela au so i thought I would share it here because it's dramatic as all hell and therefore amazing

I was grinning at first... though the reminder of your post about the class divide in Mexico came to mind at the end and toned down the silly grin to a still very enthused smile. Mono, I look forward to seeing this.
Well, that's just super. Now, I have this image of Night Light fending off bandits and it's both awesome and ridiculous because he's outmatched and looks around and realizes, "I need... liberchuks!" And then he grabs two dictionaries, links them with one of those silk ribbon bookmarks, and goes to town like he was Bruce Liber!
Ha! I spent 15 minutes on that one!
I like where this is going already.
This would make a great story.
It'd make an even better audio drama.

Hm... given some of what you have said in the past I can see why you might not want to write this yourself. A shame as it could be interesting. Someone rather familiar with the culture would have to take up writing it though otherwise I think the telenovela feel would be a little flat.
If you write this, you must embed musical cues at the appropriate dramatic reveals.
This is high drama people! The big guns!

Mono I grew up with telenovelas this needs to happen. Terciopelo needs to be the mysterious maid in Rareza's house that is revealed at the very end of the fic to be Twilight's mother in disguise; she had to leave to save her daughter from the bandits that were after her. That's like the end-of-the-second-arc twist right there; Rarity finds this out, and her urge to tell Twilight is what brings them together after their start-of-arc-two fight.

Whats funny is not only can I see this as a story....I can see this as a story about Twilight reading Rarity's 'novel.' Rarity seems like the type of Pony who would appreciate the drama and the twists as well as the over the top nature of Telenovelas.
