One night, she finds a hole leading into a very old mine. The first thing she spots is an old journal. Tattered, worn, and broken.

I have grown to expect the unexpected. On the Island of Sodor, the absurd and supernatural are considered normal. Ghosts of engines and spiteful brake vans, mythical creatures causing all manner of hell on the Skarloey Railway, a potentially rabid dog putting Sodor in the center of a political conflict, and much, much more. Sounds almost exciting, doesn't it?

What I, Edward of the North Western Railway, never expected, not in my entire life, was appearing in a different world where humans have been replaced with ponies, not to mention the fantasy aspects involved.

If I told you that I had experienced stuff even more absurd than that, would you believe me?

This is a side-story to The Eight-Six Duo.

Both Princess Celestia and Princess Luna never give much thought to the future. Sure, they might dwell on it for a few hours every now and again, but other than that, nothing.

On a nighttime drive with a teenage Human-turned-Alicorn named Takumi Fujiwara, the teenager asks what will happen in the future. What will happen to himself, the princesses, and most importantly, his car.

Princess Luna is a rather archaic princess. Being a thousand years forward in the world, it is understandable. She always assumed that she would always be an outlier to others, never finding something even nearly as old as her besides books and buildings.

However, she is surprised to discover an object more archaic than her. Far more archaic.

A train.

A rather... famous train.

While driving to Canterlot High to attend an after-school assembly, Swift Shadow nearly hits a Semi, causing him to swerve into the highschool's front yard and right into its statue.

...while a certain phoenix-colored student is about to use it.

Now he is speeding through the interior of a Crystal Castle.

As a pony.

A small shower thought I had of "What if someone were to accidentally crash into the statue with their car while it's active?".

While taking a nightly stroll through the Castle Garden, the Royal Sisters find a rather peculiar shipping container, with a most peculiar object hidden inside.

Thistral. A great, technologically-advanced land. One that was ready to turn Equestria into the greatest nation the planet had ever seen.

Too bad nopony will ever see it, or its residents, or its heritage and technology ever again, you wasted clump of atoms.

As with all my stories, do not expect much from this. I am still a growing writer. Also I just really wanted to get this out of my head.

When you've been using that front wheel drive rental for a year straight, one that barely makes 80HP, having to deal with the rental costs, you get sick of it.

Tempest Shadow has been driving such a rental into the ground and decides it would be cheaper to shell out some bits for a properly reliable car. She's heard a lot about a technology called VTEC, so maybe she'll get something with that. Sounds interesting.

Zipp hates her life. She's living a lie. Queen Haven keeps saying that only the royals can fly, when in reality they can't. You'd be surprised what some wires and good lighting will do.

She would do anything to really fly. Well, almost anything. But sadly, it never clicks. She hates it. She hates the way her mother forces the lie upon her, she hates how her sister doesn't care in the slightest, preferring to focus on social media which just sucks in general because ponies on there are all telling lies and acting like something they aren't, she hates it all. Sometimes she wonders if she was born at a very wrong time, born into a place of lies instead of truth.

Though, there is one thing. One thing that keeps her going, that keeps her sane, that keeps her from ending it all. A thing that is in no way a lie. A hobby that requires genuine skill, one that pushes adrenaline through you, and makes you feel like you are about to fly.
