How to accidentally travel to Equestria.

Pro Tip: Avoid Angry Truckers

"Come ooon. Let's get a move on!"

Swift Shadow rested his head on the steering wheel as he waited for traffic to clear up, listening to the 4A-C SOHC I4 idle from the engine bay of his white 1984 Toyota Corolla SR5 Coupe.

Soon enough, traffic cleared, and he was able to start making his way towards Canterlot High. He had an after-school assembly to get to, and that was due in just a few minutes. This made him drive much faster than normal.

Through streets and around cars he drove. He wasn't trying to be too reckless. He used his blinkers and did rolling stops at stop signs, also stopping at stoplights when needed, but he was being much more aggressive than usual.

"Aha! Here we go," he said as Canterlot High came into view. He began making a beeline for the parking lot, hoping there were still some spots left.

Only for a large Semi to turn out onto the road at the WORST possible moment.

Swift Shadow understandably yelled as he swerved to the left in order to avoid the truck, braking. The sudden change of speed shifted the weight of the Corolla to the front, taking weight off the rear and causing it break into a full four-wheel-slide.

Swift instinctively countersteered. Though he was used to drifting in the nearby mountains, being in a RWD car and all, his panic caused him to overcorrect and put the car into yet another slide, straight onto the Highschool's Front Yard.

In the front yard was a female student named Sunset Shimmer. She was walking towards the large horse statue with a notebook in hand.

"Ok. So. Get back to Equestria, say hello to Twilight, then-"

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Sunset was cut off when the sound of screeching tires erupted on her left. She looked over and panicked when she saw a white Toyota Corolla barreling towards her.

She dropped her notebook and jumped out of the way just as the Corolla changed directions, heading right for the Horse Statue. She landed on the ground and looked behind her, fearing what would likely be a horrible crash.

...only to instead see the Corolla disappear right into one of its marble faces.

Her pupils shrunk. "Uh oh."

Swift Shadow was expecting to crash. To completely total the only car he had. The car he had been driving since his sophomore year.

What he wasn't expecting, was to pull a Nine-and-Three-Quarters and go right through the base of the statue.

With a loud crack, the car landed on a crystal carpet and skidded to a stop, leaving Swift in a state of panic and confusion.

How the heck did I not crash? Did I pass out and end up in some nearby exhibit? Is there-

"What the heck was THAT?!"

Swift was snapped out of his thoughts when he heard a voice yell out from down the hallway his car was currently facing.

Looking ahead, he saw, no joke, a bright purple unicorn with WINGS that looked an awful lot like Twilight Sparkle running in, stopping several feet in front of the Corolla with a very shocked look on her face.

"What the-?!"

Swift wouldn't have taken his eyes off the pony if he hadn't noticed his hands resting on the steering wheel.

Or rather, lack of hands.

Hooves.

"What the f-"

"TWILIGHT!" A voice yelled from behind. "Oh my gosh I am SO sorry! This was a complete accident, I swear!"

"How did that thing even fit through the portal?!" the purple pony asked.

"It fit through the portal on OUR side!"

Swift had no idea what to do or say. He just stared at his hooves, attempting to remain calm.

Knock Knock Knock

He slowly looked to his left as something knocked on the window, seeing another Unicorn that looked exactly like Sunset Shimmer.

"Swift, you alright?" she asked.

...

"AHHHHHHHHHH!"

Swift nearly slammed the pedal through the metal as he panicked, unleashing the SR5's mighty 74 Horsepower into the castle's crystal flooring and accelerating towards the purple pony. Said purple pony yelped and teleported out of the way.

"Holymolyholymolyholmolholmolholmolholmol-"

He could barely compute words as he accelerated through the castle, rolling through the gears of the 5-Speed Manual Transmission faster than ever before. He pressed his hooves into the steering wheel and pushed the gear stick into its place.

Ahead, Princess Twilight Sparkle had teleported to where a unicorn named Starlight Glimmer was running.

"Twilight!" she yelled. "What's going-"

"LOOK OUT!" Twilight yelled, pulling Starlight out of the way just as the Corolla came speeding around the bend, clipping her tail.

"WHERE THE HECK AM I?!" Swift yelled as he continued to accelerate through the castle.

...only to round a bend and start heading straight for a wall.

"SHOOT!"

EEEEEEEEEEEE!

He braked and swerved to the left, slamming into a table with vases sitting on top, smashing them, and sending them flying through the air.

The car then slammed straight into a bookcase, sending books flying as the car skidded to a stop inches from the wall, stalling the engine.

"CRAP! Oh come on come on comeoncomeoncomeoncomeon-"

ZAP!

Twilight stood next to the stopped Corolla, staring at the now-unconscious pony inside.

"Sunset," she angrily snapped, looking at several torn books.

"Twilight, I promise this was an accident," Sunset stated.

"That doesn't excuse the fact that he tore apart several of my books. Rare ones too."

"How was HE supposed to know they were rare?"

Twilight groaned. "Ok, better question, HOW did somepony come THROUGH the portal in... in... whatever THIS THING is?!" She angrily pointed at the Corolla.

"It's called a Toyota Corolla. And I don't know! I don't even know HOW or WHY the side of the statue he went through was the portal! Normally only ONE SIDE is activated! Not the side he went through!"

"How did he even make it into the portal?"

"All I saw was him spinning out of control in the front yard. He barely missed me and ended up hitting the portal."

"Oh! So he ended up going through the portal because he missed YOU?"

"HOW DO YOU- ok, ok, no. I'm not dealing with this. We need to get Swift and his car back through the portal."

"How the hay do we do THAT? No way this thing can fit!"

Sunset sighed and put a hoof on her face. "You might not like it... but I think I know a way."

Twilight looked annoyed. "Why wouldn't I like it?"

"Because it involves the... other portal. On that beach. You might not like the fact that you're gonna need to help me get it back to Canterlot High."

Twilight looked between Sunset and the Corolla. Back and Forth, Back and Forth. Her ears fell as she sighed.

"I hate you."

"Swift."

Swift Shadow barely registered the voice.

"Swift!"

He slowly opened his eyes, finding the blurry image of his Corolla's dashboard.

"Swift! You okay?"

He groggily sat upright, looking out the window to find Sunset tapping on the window. He reached over and rolled it down.

"What?"

"You alright? You nearly slammed into the statue."

"Wha? Oh, that." Swift unbuckled his seatbelt and got out of the Corolla, seeing the tire marks leading up to where it was parked, which was right next to the large horse statue. "Oh wow... ugh. Yeah, I'm fine. You?"

"I'm alright. You were out for a while you know."

"I guess... I just had the weirdest dream. I was a... pony, I think, and I think I saw you and Twilight as a pony. I was driving through this castle and... wow."

Sunset nervously laughed. "Huh. Some dream. Might've been because you almost hit a Horse Statue."

"Maybe... well, I probably missed the assembly by now so I might as well get home. Oh, screw that trucker by the way."

"Yeah, screw him. Are you sure you want to head home? You're not gonna check with the nurse or something?"

"Nah, nah. The nurse probably isn't even in right now. See-..."

"I guess." Sunset noticed the Swift staring at the Corolla. "What? If you mean the front bumper, that was from hitting a bin."

"Sunset?" Swift asked after a moment.

"Yeah?"

"Why is half my car covered in sand?"
