Why not have the ones raised by dragons be dragons?
2398365 Because that would distract from the main storyline. The idea is that ponies, like humans, are a smaller, less powerful-looking species (not to mention the more dominant ones). And besides, it would be unfair to the non-dragon slayers.
I think that any future feats they may accomplish would be better with the dragon slayers as ponies anyways. After all, being adult dragons would be making them a little too OP, and if they were forced to be baby dragons it would be unfair towards Natsu and Gajeel. Remember, most, if not all, of the enemy are going to be ponies without dragon slayer magic anyway.
Thanks for bringing up such a good point, though. Maybe you should write your own story with that idea. I'd read it.
