Thank you, I hope the judges feel the same.

The look on Cucaracha's face, however, was one of hope. Gesturing to her fellow musicians, she and they ran backstage to trade their elegant accoutrements for something a bit less sophisticated.

Reemerging, she saw the pink pony moping. "Hey, senorita!"

Turning her head, the senorita in question saw a full Mareiachi band on stage, costumes and all, with an empty spot by the microphone.

Not needing any more of an invite, she galloped to the stage in glee, eliciting many gasps from the ladies and gentlecolts around her. She leaped, landing right next to the mic, and without even a pause to breathe started singing.

I can't resist.

"Perhaps it's a spare?" Celestia closed in on Chrysalis. "Say, Blueblood, why do you have so many pieces of luggage in the first place?"

Chrysalis did all she could to hold back a hiss. "That's...none of your business."

Twilight's magic glow surrounded one of the other bags. "You wouldn't mind if we looked in a few, right?"

"N--No! Cease! I have a righ--"

Chrysalis's protests were silenced by the zipper's high-pitched shriek.

Celestia let out the breath she was holding.

So did Twilight, in the form of a sigh. "Still looks more comfortable than economy class."

Here's your New Blood Contest feedback!

This story was one of my favourites, and I have it in my original notes as "Jam-packed with comedy chaos", without much in the way of negatives. I think that holds up quite well on a second reading, but of course, I do have more to say...

This story is hyper-efficient in the way many Thousand Word Contest stories tend to be, and this is good in that it packs a lot of punch in a small wordcount - but also bad, in that it feels almost too efficient. It's all conspicuously terse and running at a blazing pace that leaves little room to appreciate the great moments.

And great moments there are in abundance, regardless of how little time they're given. It's not quite a for-want-of-a-nail story, but it clearly takes from that tradition, with many interconnecting plot threads weaving "Blue Blood"'s actions in with the events of the Gala.

Overall, despite some fundamental criticisms, this might be the best episode remix story I've seen on the site - and besides that, it was hilarious!

I really enjoyed reading this, and it was a great pleasure to see this in the New Blood Contest. I hope you keep writing, and I look forward to reading more from you in the future!

Thanks for the sneedback. This fic definitely was cut back--perhaps too much--but I'm mostly pleased with how it turned out, and I'm happy others share that view.
