This story is a sequel to The Emptiness of High Valour

Empty Valour was made a prisoner and then a slave when the changelings invaded Equestria. Having endured torture and abuse, she meekly submitted to her owner until she was brought back to Canterlot as a part of her mistress' household. The alterations to society brought by the changelings force her to confront her worth as a unicorn who was robbed of everything she held dear, while her fellow citizens who remain free advance their own power, wealth and status.

2022 entry for the Equestria at War writing contest.

[Tag warning: metaphorical psychological trauma and implied threat of real violence.]

This was an interesting read and it left me with a lot of mixed thoughts, especially after the middle and end of the story. I didn't quite know how to feel at the end which doesn't happen often in stories, and I honestly didn't know how to categorize it in my shelves because of that. I'd say you did a great job writing this and I look forward to seeing what you make in the future, keep it up.

awesome story mate keep it up cant wait for the next chapter of her story:pinkiehappy::twilightsmile:

Says it every freaking time. Means nothing at this point. 🤦‍♂️

“Don’t speak to me of dignity again. You don’t know what humiliation is, because you have no pride. As far as I may have fallen, I did not forget the height of my career. And who it was that laid me low. So run back to your lady’s side.”

Who was it exactly?

Can’t wait for the next sequel to this to see what happens next but I’m now I don’t know what to say anymore

That would be Rarity. Though the parallels in their lives are significant, she can claim to have not betrayed who she was.

Unfortunately, this doesn't quite live up to the previous entry. While the prose was certainly better, with a lot less hiccups, it fell straight into the nothingburger pit.
While I admit that the Cornucopia Society is decently interesting, this feels like a prologue at best. Nothing much happened, save for setup for future chapters. That in itself would be fine if those future chapters actually existed, and if this had a chance of actually becoming the plot of the series. As it stands, this mostly felt like 10k words of almost nothing. No emotional payoff (be it positive or negative), no extra characterisation, just loredump.
Hopefully this doesn't come off as rude, because that's not my intention. If my criticism is unwanted, or if my wording is too harsh, I apologise.
I almost left a dislike, but I realised there isn't much wrong with the story as much as it's not interesting to me.
