Decades into Twilight's reign, despite all her best efforts to preserve peace and harmony, the Equestrian crown came into conflict with the warmongering Emperor Gawkron. In a flashpoint conflict on the border over a naval territory dispute, Gawkron has unilaterally declared war on Equestria. A month ago, the griffons landed on Manehatten with an unprecedented invasion force and quickly took the city.

Ah thanks for pointing that out. I've been writing that way a lot and now that you mention it, the right way to space quotations looks a lot cleaner. Will change that up in a jiffy.
Do admit that everything I've put down is a little sparse, I kind of couldn't help myself and just wanted to get something out quickly. I do hope that I've given a bit of an introduction to the characters at least.

The title is a bit of a play on the book Guns, Germs and Steel, but they would be involved in the story. This is significantly after the events of the show, however, so both sides will have muskets (though obviously only unicorns can use them without it being cumbersome). Do agree that the Zootopia dynamic is a little ridiculous haha though, and I'll try to not make things that skewed.
I've liked what I've read so far, but one question? Where are the rest of the Mane Six? The Young Six? Surely they'd have to have gotten involved in here if this isn't that long after the show's events?
