So what kind of rifle are you starting out with? Repeater, or bolt action?

Bolt action
What about the vietnam war? Shouldn't that be counted as well?
10891859
Not rly no. I mean only US south Vietnamese and South Korea vs north Vietnam. You can kinda count France but that was before the war.
10891876
I just check it up and a few other countries besides the US, Vietnam, France, and Korea was in the war. At minimum half the world was in the war at some point.
Magnificent chapter. If they ever build something as sturdy and reliable as a AK 47 they be set for life. And death...
I hope rainbow can get some peace of mind with the knowledge that she will be able to act if Jack is injured again.
I wonder what the next metaphorical road block will be? I feel like if I was the griffins, I would be trying my best to take Jack off the board.
10891876
Australia as well.
10891859
May not have popped up in Jack's head. I do try to not give him Wikipedia like knowledge.
I can't possibly see this ending well, once you have guns, you can never go back. Celestia doesn't seem to realize that.

The Korean War was closer to a world war than Vietnam, and both of those were confined to a single small country. Not exactly the same scale.
10891902
Huh. Didn’t know that. Thanks. But yeah no where even close enough to count.
Are you going to talk about things like mass production difficulties, defects, errors, etc, or are you going to ignore it for the sake of the plot (which is totally fine).
Realistically a nation that has never made guns before probably won’t be able to make them very well the first time round.

True it isn't a world war but the war itself including the Korean war was big enough to involve minimum of 8 countries. So at least it should get a mention.
War tends to make innovation kick into gear

Give 'em the Springfield, fine old gun. Unless Jack wants to make a leap right to the Garand...
Dash's reaction and response was done well
Yay it’s back! Can’t wait to see more
I think it is important to recognise that we had to come up with the primer concept on our own, having someone show you makes it infinitly easier to copy. Other then that there were some small gramatical errors.
But i still love the story, keep up the good work!
10893005
Yeah, there were at least three different ideas of loading before that and then twoprincipially different primers? And then, if he going with primer, gunpowder should be avoided, something like cordide is up to task.
Clockwork ponies, heh. That solves mechanical problem. But there is an important part of firearm that changes alot: ballistics science. That's what propelled ( pun intended) cartridge and sights development. And that's alot of math and aerodynamics.

He shows them a separable magazine, so it might be closer to M1 Carabine crossed with Gewehr 98 (or Model 99? Lever-action rifle would be better for ponies and definitely no fiddling with clips or cut-offs in combat when you don't have fingers)
10893034
You have no idea. Firearm tech classes showed me the level of math is meth
10893373
Alot of it if not restricted is commercial secret at least in my country. Building a functional artillery piece (mortar) in personal workshop is relatively easy, one doesn't want to give them also easy to get methodics for aiming it.
Wouldn't be too surprising that WW1/WW2 deaths end up being more than the entire population of Equestria/The World of Equestria
10893711
Well i was saying biulding a gun from scratch on a new design. Even if they replicate smokeless powder it's bound to be a somewhat different compound making different pressures and bullet velocities. Granted this mostly matters in long distance where acuraccy is needed a blowback or boltgun would still be somewhat simple build
I hope they designed something with a hammer-action or bolt-action then any kind of true automatic rifle
This is great. High quality reading. This site never ceases to amaze me with these diamonds in the rough.
Equestrian at war... There is a game like that
O wonder when they go for grenades and molotov for room cleaning. Flashbangs might be better though.
