Actually that isn't dumb and it serves two purposes.

1) No matter what her curiosity about the weapon, Twilight is very unlikely to mess with it after seeing that display except for the very small possibility of hiding it.

2) Rainbow Dash has seen the level of destruction it can do. While she is impressed with it, she also understands this and is far less likely to do anything with it than she would be had that demonstration NOT occurred. She is not the type to hurl a tornado at her friends(If she were Lightning Dust showing the weapon would be a bad thing). The only case where I could see her using the gun without permission would be if they were attacked and somehow Jack wasn't able to use the gun.

That was stupid. Even if you didn’t expect her to be able to pull the trigger, you never give a gun to an untrained person like that, unless you’re specifically giving them training in how to use it. Especially so, given it’s a rifle. He didn’t tell her about the recoil at all. You know people have broken their collarbone/shoulders from gun recoil? Bruised their shoulders? With pistols it’s not too bad, if you don’t have a good grip it could still fly out of your hands and sock you in the face, a rifle is another story.

He essentially just taught an unknown, alien civilian how guns work, and how to fire one, all without teaching gun safety. (No, telling them not to point the barrel at people is not gun safety. Gun safety includes the actual safety on the gun, pointing the gun at the ground at all times unless firing, how to hold the gun and what to expect when firing it including sound and - you guessed it - recoil).

I’m not liking this MC. I’m not really liking any of the characters so far actually - except Griselda - because while the MC is an idiot imo, Twilight and Rainbow act OOC, with the former being too shy and excitable and the latter being too forward, for lack of a better word.
