and then a giant meteor came blew up the planet. the end.

there, everyone's dead.

And once again Celestia lets somebody else deal with her problems. Not like she didn't trick Twilight into ascending.

Twilight's grieving isn't Celestia's problem to fix. Twilight has to come to terms with her own grief. That said what is there to say that Celestia didn't try to help comfort Twilight before this? As I put in the story Celestia sent Sunset to Twilight as well. Thus Celestia is still trying to help.

Before I read this, I must know: Why use Sunset? Wouldn't it make more sense to use Spike? And how did Sunset live that long?

Why didn't I use Spike? I would imagine that when Rarity passed Spike would have been just as hard hit. Maybe even harder. While I don't doubt that they could have comforted each other in their grief Twilight was getting consumed by her grief in this case. In such examples, it isn't too unusual to find that the people with them regularly get to a point of frustration in trying to help finding that they, ultimately, can't help. Hence a new voice coming in to try to help. That voice being Sunset in this instance. That said what is to say that Spike wasn't consumed by his grief either at Rarity's passing or that the last one to pass was Rarity and Spike had other friends by his side helping him through it himself at the time?

As for how Sunset lived that long? It is pretty clear that time does not pass at an equal 1 to 1 ratio between the two worlds. 3 years passing for Sunset in the human world is not the same amount of time for Princess Twilight in Equestria. The prime example of this is the fact that Sunset knew of Twilight as a princess while at the same time Twilight never heard of Sunset. Twilight was Celestia's student for more than 3 years if events in the series are taken as they are presented. If, from Sunset's perspective, it has been 3 years and time passed at the same rate between the two then how did Twilight never know of Sunset?

On that note, how did Sunset know of Twilight being a princess? If the portal opened every 30 moons for each side we are talking over two years prior as to the last time any information could have passed through the portal to give the information that Twilight was a new princess. The problem is from her time in becoming a princess to the crown being stolen was most certainly less than a year if what happens is taken at face value. The given evidence points to time passing faster in Equestria than in the human world. Am I taking this too serious? Possibly.

Aw, I really liked this! ♡

It was good. Sad. Good and sad. In a good way.

Urm... you know what I mean.

The story itself is lacking illustrative detalis due to its shortness. How did the Mane5 die? What are the stories about them? Without this it is harder to believe that Twilight actually cares.

And speaking of that, the lesson is to live a lie, thanks, Sunset. She suggests to revel in memories and pretend that people did not die. And more than that, the whole "death does not count because memories" is straight up evil. This basically means "One's wellbeing was never important. What is, is my/your feelings about what they did while being alive". You're advising people to be selfish and not care about actual lives of their fellows, only about what fun and pleasure they get from them... and, by the way, isn't it a reason to save those lives anyway?
