The Nightmare's return.

Waking up was a little difficult since the party that Random Question threw nearly later the whole night and I hardly got any sleep but I was still able to wake up just fine, my assistant however was still asleep so I had to wake her up.

"Spine?" I had but I received no response.

"Spine wake up." I say once more, this time I did receive a response.

"Huh? Oh,*yawns* Morning "Shine", what's up?" she asked me.

"You know what's up Spine, we have to go to the Summer Sun Celebration today!" I said.

"Oh no! We've gotta go "Shine" ." Spine said.

The two of us then went outside the library and ran over to the town hall.

We eventually made it to the town hall and watched as the mayor of Ponyville gave her speech.

"I hope everything goes well with the Celebration." I had said nervously.

"Relax,everything will be fine." Spine said.

The two of us then quieted down as the mayor eventually started to announce the Princess.

"And now to start this Summer Sun Celebration, Princess Solarwind!" the Mayor says as Windfeather opens the curtains, only to reveal that nopony was there.

"What!? Where's Princess Solarwind?" I asked myself as the ponies all around me started to panic.

Just then a wicked laugh filled the air, we all looked around in horror to find the source of the laughter and it wasn't long until said source showed itself by appearing in a veil of darkness, what stepped of out of that darkness was a dark grey Alicorn mare whose mane looked as if it was made of pure darkness, her eyes were slitted not unlike those of a dragon's and she wore midnight blue armor.

I couldn't believe what I was seeing, it turns out the legends were true, this was none other than the "Nightmare" herself, Nightfall Nova.

Nightfall Nova then does another wicked laugh before saying"BEHOLD, THY RIGHTFUL RULER HATH RETURNED!"

"Who are you!?" one mare said.

"And what have you done with the Princess!?" another added

Both voices where familiar but I couldn't remember as to who said what.

"Does nopony recall the legend,did nopony see the signs?!" Nightfall Nova says as lightning strikes nearby.

"I know, your Nightfall Nova otherwise known as the mare in the moon!" I said.

"Ah, yes at least somepony knows who I am, but do you know what I came to do?" Nightfall Nova said.

"Yes your here too...,oh no." I said.

"That's right remember the this day as it'll be the last day for all of eternity! *evil laughter*" once the Evil Alicorn said that,she then vanished in a plume of black smoke.

I was left stunned after Nightfall Nova had left, eternal night? What was I going to do, it was at this moment that I saw Random Question walk up to me.

"It looks like you were right about that Nightfall Nova huh?" The brown earth pony said.

"I -I am? I mean of course I am. " I say with false confidence.

Random simply chuckled then brought me over to a table where his friends were all conversing with one another.

"Oi, "Shiny" 'ow we gettin' outta dis mess?" Windfeather asks me

"I'm not sure..." I had said to her.

"Hmm, Think about this, Nightfall Nova's shadow appeared to head off to the left right?" Random Question said.

"Yeah but that's where the Everfree Forest is, if we go there we might never come back.... or so I heard." I said.

"But if we don't we'll never know just why Nightfall Nova wants eternal night." Random Question had said.

"I-i don't know, the Everfree sounds scary" Midnight Serenade said.

"But if we don't go we may never know just why Nightfall Nova is how she is." Random Question says.

"Then I guess it's settled, c'mon everypony to the Everfree Forest!" I say as Random and his friends follow me.

It took us about thirty minutes to reach the Everfree Forest and when we did we came upon a huge lion like creature, thankfully Midnight Serenade was able to get us past it, the next thing we came upon was a ravine but Windfeather found a way around it , next up were these weird tree with very sharp "teeth" that looked like they would eat us but Sunny Sky started laughing at them, we weren't sure why she did but she told us to laugh so we did and somehow it got us past the evil looking trees, we then came upon a ragged bridge on which we sent Moonlit Sky to go check it out, it took her longer than we expected but she told us the bridge was fine and we were free to cross, so we did. We then saw a huge and very old castle and after a while we all went inside.

"T-this place is creepy,can we go home now?" Midnight Serenade says as we looked around the castle.

"We can't go home just yet Midnight." I said.

"Oh ok..." Midnight said.

The six of us eventually find sure the elements are, I went to check it out and saw that only five of the six were there.

"I don't get it, the legend says that there are six elements, why is there five?" I would ask myself.

All of a sudden I was sent to another room, but I wasn't alone in front of me was Nightfall Nova herself.

"Where is the last element Nightfall!" I said.

"Well aren't you a brave one. To come all this way for some useless stones... " the Nightmare said.

"They're not useless, they're the Elements of Harmony!" I boldly said as I stood my ground.

"Foolish girl, your courage will be your undoing! " Nightfall says before she charges at me.

Thinking quickly I teleported myself behind her making her miss me.

"You stubborn little brat! " Nightfall Nova said. "Very well let's see how your elements handle this! " Nightfall would then smash the elements to pieces in front of my eyes.

In the first time in my life I felt anger, I wanted to blast her with a spell right there but I noticed a hoof on my shoulder.

"Shine? Please calm down, even if the elements are broken our friendship cannot be." Midnight Serenade says in a kind manner.

It was then I realized she was right, I did have friends and I'm not going to let them down!

The other three of my friends joined me by my side ready to help.

"You're not alone here Shine, remember that. " Random said.

"Yeah we're gonna get this baddie good! " Windfeather said.

"We can do this! " Sunny Sky said.

"Cause we're all best friends! " Moonlit Sky says after her twin.

"What are you ponies talking about, you cannot beat me with friendship alone, your efforts are just in vain! " Nightfall Nova says before laughing.

"Maybe so but you forgot one thing, Friendship is Magic!" I said in defiance.

Once I said that the elements started to glow and float over to their respective bearers.

"Impossible! " Nightfall Nova said. "I destroyed them!"

"Random Question for volunteering your time to help me and my friends out you're the element of generosity. " I said.

"Sweet" Random says as the element forms a necklace and goes around his neck. The gem was in the shape of his cutie mark.

"Midnight for your help with the lion I name you the element of kindness. " I say as I point to Midnight.

Midnight's Element seemed to change into an anklet at first before becoming a necklace as well, it had a pink bird shaped gem on it.

"Sunny your the Element of Laughter as you always find a way to make us giggle. " I said.

Sunny simply giggled as her Element landed on her neck, it's gem was a sun.

"Moonlit Sky, for your endless bravery you are hereby known as the Element of Loyalty. " I say as Moonlit Sky happily accepts her Element. The gem on it had a moon.

"Windfeather, your the Element of Honesty, as no lie can get past you. " I said.

"Well ain't that somethin' " Windfeather says as her Element went on her neck, it's gem was a cloud.

"And Finally I am the Element of Magic! " I say as the last element appears over my head with my cutie mark as it's gem, it then landed on my head.

"This cannot be! I cannot fail here! No! " Nightfall Nova says before she is blasted by a massive rainbow beam.

"Did we win? " Midnight said.

"I dunno but I think we did." I said.

All of a sudden a bright light would come down into the room and reveal Princess Solarwind in all of her beauty.

"P-princess!? Your okay! "" I said to my mentor.

"You all did a wonderful job my little ponies, not only did you defeat the Nightmare, you have returned my sister to me. " Solarwind would say before she goes to her sister whom was lying on the ground.

Seeing her sister for the first time was rather stunning to say the least, her mane was like an aurora and her body was as white as snow, her cutie mark was a crescent moon with three star like diamonds next to it.

"Sister, please forgive me for my actions. I was just so jealous and... " the other princess never finished as her older sister would hug her.

"It is alright Aurora, I forgive you. " Princess Solarwind said.

"Oh Solarwind.... " Princess Aurora says as she hugs her older sister.

It was then that Princess Solarwind would send us home.
