Such cordial little spider folk. Glad there weren't any (visibly) hard feelings.
Also damn, Spike got a promotion!
I wish I had something witty to say about this. But damn me, I do not. You clever asshat. I love it.

I don't think that Spike "got a promotion" so much as Ember spread misinformation about Spike's actual job/relationship with Twilight in order to inspire Dragons to want to develop a more positive relationship with Ponies. As Dim points out, this is social manipulation being used for a positive outcome, though that manipulation could backfire under the wrong circumstances. Still, I think in this case the risk will end up paying off.
The "last rites" that dim did really interests me, and I want to see the effects it has on him, and how those with ancient knowledge will react. It feels like dim has stumbled onto some ancient and noteworthy thing that I'm having trouble putting to words. Not really a skill, and also not necessarily a power either. Maybe a forgotten holy practice of some extinct people.
I like the spider queen. She reminds me of that old toast: "To honourable enemies and dishonourable friends".

Propaganda, Promotionganda
Still him moving up in the world, even if it's just in reputation only
Dim is confusing "good" with "Good". People who are Good do not oppress and harm those beneath them unless it is necessary and beneficial for the whole - with time. They work hard for everyone, no matter how poor or rich. The "good", are the ones who play at being noble and virtuous while being morally bankrupt without wisdom or reason. They are just plain Evil, not "good". A wolf in sheep's clothing is still a wolf, just with a better tailor than you.
Dim is also romanticizing the poor and the working. Just because they either have little to no political power, does not make them more kind and/or good. Power for the most part only enables. A sweet pony with a small amount of power can only do a small amount of good, like Coco fixing up her neighborhood park. A sweet pony with a lot of power can conversely do a lot with their's, like Twilight opening a school. And the reverse is true as well. Suri Polomare exploited just one mare, and someone like King Sombra exploited a whole nation.
What I really love about this is how Dim takes the Grey from the Spider Queen and instead of making it about Selfishness...he makes it about Altruism of sorts. It is something that is quite beautiful and that we know leads to further growth from Dim.
You're missing a period here.
