Deep deep chapter such hints of possible trouble and redemption
Much as i question how these current events unfolded, it did lead to this very, very deep introspection.
Hmmm. I would dare say Celestia deals with her own darkness, a similar but different one. Luna has grown to fear the darkness she is part of, that is part of the night. Celestia fears the darkness even more though, after seeing how it consumed her sister....
If the whole daybreaker scenario does give an idea of her fear. Luna fears temptation, but celestai fears outright use of her might. She fears causing destruction. Hell maybe she was traumatized by something in her past
Wow. Wow wow wow. I love deep chapters like this. This is a bit reminiscent of the chapter where Flicker commits to Cadence. Where a proud heart is laid low by the power of love and admitting that you need help and the realization sinks in that you need to change.
I think that a lot of writers don't get Cadence right. If you look back to an early conversation way back in one of the Swans stories where Gosling is talking to Cadence (when he is asking why she does not intervene more and force her will onto a situation, IIRC); she gets a chance to show off her power and shows what she's capable of.
I kind of went off on a tangent there, but what I was getting at is that Cadence is powerful, and Kudz does a good job of letting that shine through every once in a while. I just love how she is using her influence to bring a black sheep into the light.

She could do the same thing to Dim, remotely.
But then his redemption wouldn't mean very much, would it?

On some journeys there is not a path, and a destination. In that case, there are shortcuts, one can skip the journey itself if the conditions are right.
On some journeys, there is only the path - and by walking it you create the destination you didn't know you needed to reach.
Well, this is a vast improvement from thinking the voice was a drug-induced hallucination.
Ever forward, Dim Dark... you are not alone. Please listen to Cadence more often.
Are you missing something here?
And the infection is thoroughly lanced.
And now the true redemption begins. Dear lord we STILL have to get to the managerie. This is not even close to over yet.
A very good well written chapter....but it feels a little too short. I think part of the problem for me was, there just wasn't enough Dim there towards the end. Still, it was quite enjoyable I am certainly looking forward to the next installment! <3
This chapter is excellent and I am very sure this story is going to sit among my favorites for years to come. Theirs only one thing i have really felt the need to well comment on and please don't take that as insult I'm just generally bad at writing meaningful compliments. See I agree with Dim here on one thing Madness is a form of Strength. It's a potent one a source of power that has been part of humanity at least sense its early days. Or perhaps better summed by this simple bit of phrasing "Sometimes madness is wisdom" a phrase I hold near and dear to my heart. Through madness we attempt the impossible, we use it to put others before ourselves. To place another's survival over our own. Even mental illness and I know this is controversial to say sometimes comes with upsides. I don't think I could write the way I do or help people without my own defects. Sorryfor this rant again just something I felt compelled to say.
Edit: just realized I forgot to mention I know cadence and dim are discussing not really madness so much as depression and moral nihilism but still something that was waying on my heart if not particurly relevant to that actual circumstance that triggered it.
Love this story.
