Normal ponies. Totally.
He was transformed into a pony and in the first story the spell turned him into a mare and wouldn't cancel because he'd gotten pregnant and had to go through deliver. (Night Light)

Later he transformed again, this time into a stallion, to have a second child that his wife would carry.

I still have to fix the first story some, but it works, for the most part.
